I was reading someone trip report, please forgive me I forget your screen name if you read this, but Cap't Cooks has TONGA TOAST!!!!!!!! I am in freaking heaven!!!

I had no clue and that now saves me a TS

I saw that post and went to check menu... It is not on menu along w/ any other breakfast items but I am willing to go try it out myself- We would like one mopre counter service breakfast to just help fill in the day!

Yes, it's true! We returned two weeks ago from the Poly. I had TT with bacon one morning, it was huge! Must have been two pieces of that thick Texas bread with sliced banana inside. It was not my fav but hey, I've had it now. They also have a Dole Whip soft serve machine in Cap. Cook's. I did have that a few times, yummy!

Its definitely true - DH had Tonga Toast almost every morning during our last trip (in September, 2008) - - you can even get the strawberry sauce on the side if you wish.

So, if you order it at Cap'n Cooks, is it pre-made? Last time we were at Kona, I was able to order it with another fruit beside bananas. They offered to make it with basically any fruit - strawberry, apple, even blueberries.

I'm not sure you would be able to do this. One, it is a very limited menu and I'm not sure they would have the ingredients to modify your order. Two, you don't even speak to a person when you are ordering...it is all done via video screen at the front of the restaurant. You place your order at a computer kiosk and then you go up to the counter and pick up your order and then head over to the cashier to pay. You could maybe try going up to the counter b/f you order and ask them what modifications they are able to make.
