I read on another thread that the corn dogs at DLR aren't beef hotdogs anymore..that they changed them to turkey dogs. YUCK.
Can anyone confirm this?

I admit I don't know what the latest is on this. For several years now, there have been reports circulating that the corn dogs are now a chicken/beef combo or maybe a chicken/pork combo or even a turkey dog. I'm not sure if Disney has ever put out there publicly what they are.

Our family did get corn dogs a couple years ago, and they were not as we remembered them. For one thing, they were definitely smaller. I took a couple bites of DH's, and they didn't taste all-beef to me, but I couldn't tell you what they actually were. I'm not the biggest corn dog fan anyway, so what I have to say about them isn't the most reliable. The rest of the family though who all really like corn dogs commented that they tasted different. They ate them but said they weren't as good as they used to be.

I don't think we've gotten corn dogs at DL since. I have seen some recent comments suggesting that the corn dogs have improved again, both in size and flavor, but the disappointing memory of that last batch still lingers, so we haven't been up to trying them out again.

Does anyone REALLY know what's in a hot dog? :rotfl2:

I can confirm that YES the corn dogs are chicken*....and beef*..... and likely some pork*

(*byproducts and/or scraps)

Actually I have no idea. They didn't seem any different than before. I can confirm they are still delicious.

yeah they taste the same to me...i just had one a few weeks ago...ok confession time...i had 2:rolleyes1,,,so if they changed it to something different, I sure couldnt tell

It seems like they would have to be able to tell customers if they are beef, pork or chicken, etc.?

Oh No! Seriously...this isn't good news.

Some folks have allergies to different meats. So for that reason alone, I would think Disney would tell people what meat is in them. I'm sure they won't want to divulge the bi-products/scraps, but I think everyone knows that's what hot dogs are made of.;)

OK I'm actually very happy someone brought this up. I never once heard that they may now be made of turkey or chicken etc. I wouldnt be surprised. There is definitely something about them now that is different. Over the many years I have been going to Disneyland I have eaten plenty of corn dogs. SOOOOOOO GOOD! But when I went to Disneyland last November I went and got one, and I even had my mom take a bite cause I said it doesnt taste like I remember it to be. She 100% agreed with me. She went and got one too just for comparison a few days later into our trip and her's tasted just like mine. It tasted almost bland and overly battered. Normally this would be one of those foods I would be looking forward to on my upcoming trip, but I dont even think im gonna bother. :confused3

I don't know what is in them, but my family had our first Disneyland corn dogs last week and they were delicious and huge.

We have family members with lots of food sensitivities and this info would be very useful.

Are the corn dogs sold in DLR different from those sold in DCA?

no the regular ones at DCA are the same...the difference between DCA and DL is that DCA also sells hot links and cheese corn dog things...i love them too...i wish they would do one that has both the hot dog and the cheese in it...

I go to DL all the time and I get a corn dog every time i go...in fact, Ive been getting them since i was like 18 and well um now im *cough46cough*:rotfl:...and the only thing Ive noticed different is sometimes it can be..lets say ....overcooked???? but Ive never thought they were overly battered...thats one of the things Ive always loved:rotfl: and Ive never EVER thought them to be considered bland..:scared:

Two things you don't want to see being made—sausage and legislation.

:lmao:

i wish they would do one that has both the hot dog and the cheese in it...

That was DS's wish too last time we were there! When he found he couldn't get it that way, he went off in a different direction and got himself the Sicilian sausage at Award Weiners. I think he mostly picked it because it had cheese on it.

he should have just gotten 2 corn dogs...1 reg. 1 cheese....then take a bite of one then the other and repeat till gone:rotfl2:

Thanks for all your input. I guess I will just have to try them and see for myself.
And by the way...my grandpa (RIP) was a hog farmer. He made sausage all the time and never put anything in it that you would not want to eat or that would gross you out. He was an honorable man. Of course you can't trust the big meat companies.

Oh don't even get me started on meat companies....:rolleyes1

I can personally say that they did taste *different* on our last trip. But I just thought it was because they were burnt. I was horribly disappointed after standing in that LONG line to get burnt corn dog, blech!:scared:

Anyone know where we could find out for sure what meat is in the corndogs? I'm allergic to pork and I just assumed I didn't feel well after eating my last corn dog because of the grease....but maybe it had pork in it??

Ah, you beat me to it.

That said, I LOVE corndogs. I personally do not care what meat (keyword here meat) they are made of as long as they are fresh and taste good.

I've never cared enough to check out the truth of the corn dogs. Food allergies are a concern for people though, and I have heard Disney is good about working with people who have food allergies. It seems to me that on the basis of your allergy concerns, you should be able to find out at City Hall what the real deal is with the corn dogs, at least as far as what meats are in the dogs. Then you could come back here and post to the DIS and put an end to all this speculation. :)
