Hey guys,
I have a BIG question here as this will be my 1st time EVER at a moderate resort. I decided since wilderness lodge or the standard wing at CR is sold out I should save my money for my long trip for this upcoming xmas!! Is it going to be a let down since I am always use to the deluxe resorts and usually the ones on the monorail? Also is POFQ the best moderate for a new timer and is it worth since they dont have a sitdown restaurant? However the resort looks so PRETTY and appealing and I dont want to be taking long hikes at the other moderates. Any way you can boost my hopes would be greatly appreciated:bounce: :Pinkbounc

I know I can count on you guys!!

It has a great pool and a hot tub and beautiful grounds and water taxi to DD. We coulnt get Ap rates for the Poly after 18 April so we went for 2 rooms at POFQ instead. Also the rooms will be sparkling:smooth: brand new. theres nothing better than the smell of new carpets.:teeth:

I know it is a come down to stay with us rif-raf, but you should be able to fit in with the commoners anyway. Afterall, no one walks around and asks to see proof of your bloodlines. Take it from a discrete multimillionaire, the moderates are a good value and unless you need to base your life on what others rerceive you to be, then you should live the life you have. If you want to be a fairy princess, then schedule a princess breakfast and pretned your life away.

grimp,
I dont like that you make it seem that I am portraying myself as all high and mighty just because Im use to deluxe resorts. I never put down the moderates- I am just hoping Ill like it and want to choose the best one for me. I am FAR from rich but when I do go away I like to ENJOY myself and live it up!! All I want is basic honest and polite opinions:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Try to ignore the attempt at humor that comes across as sarcasam.

I too am a Deluxe kind of girl. We have done BC, BW, WLx3, and then CRB, CS, and POFQ. I like POFQ best of the moderates and better than the BC. Honestly, if you think 2 rooms that join might work for you better, go for it. We had 2 rooms and it was great having our two teen boys with their own bath!

I like the small, intimate feel of the place. The other two moderates were a loooong hike to anywhere. That is a drag for me. That is one reason I really love the WL. That and the ambiance.

Have fun, what ever you choose.

I've stayed at a number of deluxe resorts - GF, AKL and have had a good look round the others, including rooms. We had a booking a WLodge a couple of years ago but we changed it at the last minute cos we decided the rooms were too dark! We quite often stay at Port Orleans Riverside (prefer to FQ but FQ has just been refurbished so rooms may be nicer) and I have to say that I definately prefer it to WL.The grounds are very pretty and the boats down to Downtown Disney are great. There's plenty of other activities too - bikes, boats, horse carriages and fishing hole. My mum even prefers it to AKL - she likes the water!!!So don't worry about PO not meeting up to your expectations. It's in a good location - about 5mins to all parks except AK, I suppose this depends on your favourite park. We definately liked the convenience of the monorail at GF but its not necessary - we prefer to visit epcot than MK.

I stayed there for my honeymoon (12 years ago). I liked it, but it all depends on what you prefer. It is a more intimate resort (it's not as sprawling as the CBR). You can bike ride to the riverside formerly Dixie Landings and eat there. I remember the bus service was outstanding but I wasn't crazy about the food court. The atmosphere was very pretty and the pool was fun. However, I didn't like it as much as CBR. I thought that place was simply awesome. Those are the only on-site hotels I stayed at. This August I am trying the value resort at Pop Century and I'm hoping I like it as much as those.

I think you will like POFQ (but if you want a bigger and as far as I'm concerned better moderate try the CBR.)

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give POFQ a strong 6 and the CBR a 10.

Hope that helps.

Going in August :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I've stayed at several deluxes over the years, and the POFQ is still my favorite of all of the Disney resorts (and I've stayed at 11 of them). I love the atmosphere, and it's fun just walking around the resort and soaking it all in. I have stayed there three times, and have always found the rooms to be clean and comfortable. I'm sure there even better now that the rooms have been renovated.

I've also found transportation to the parks to be fantastic. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a bus, and I've always gotten a seat. Bus service is quick, even with the run through the POR to pick up more passengers.

I have always found the staff super helpful and friendly. They've always gone the extra mile for us.

Give it a try. I think you'll like it :)

My favorite resort is also CBR, however, if you don't want long walks, you would be better off at POFQ. I will be staying there for the first time in May because when I called they only had king rooms at CBR using the code. I have stayed at the sister resort, PO Riverside, 3 times. They do have a sit down restaurant and it is only a short walk on the path along the river to get there. This is one of my mothers favorites. So if it is just the restaurant that is worrying you, you can go right next door. I'm really looking forward to staying here.

My first onsite stay was at a value, then right up to the deluxes and then last year I stayed at the POR, and I loved it, the themeing of the POR and POFQ are great. The food court was very nice, bigger than the ones at any of the deluxes, the boat ride to DTD was a nice perk as well.
As far as I am concerned you can not go wrong with staying at either of the PO resorts.

we prefer the moderates....our family spends alot of time in the parks and I just can't justify the extra expense of the deluxes for our situation. we have stayed in 8 different disney resorts(including 2 deluxe, 3 mods, 3 values)and have honestly never had a bad stay in any of them! we have found that basically the rooms are all clean and comfortable at all the disney resorts...they all have nice pools and we've found that as far as the amenities that we need and use; there's not a terrible amount of distinction between the different resorts...now specifically about POFQ: we stayed there last year and really enjoyed it! It's a very compact resort and you're never really very far from anything no matter what building you're staying in...it has a nice themed pool and hot tub....the boat to DTD disney was a plus....parking lots and bus stop were very convenient....no, there is not a sit-down restaurant on property, but, again, for our family, this was not a problem....we tend to hit the food court for breakfast and late snacks and eat most of our big meals in the parks....we found the bus transportation to be acceptable to and from POFQ, but, I will admit that we do drive our car alot of the time no matter which resort we're staying at....we liked this resort so much last year that we have booked it again this year(splitting stay between here and BCV) and can't wait to get there in June...I think you will enjoy POFQ, especially if you can rate it on its' own merits and not constantly compare it to the deluxes you stayed in previously...does that make sense? anyway, the only thing that I could see POFQ not being able to compete with is the monorail...give it a chance and I think you'll enjoy it...have a great trip...

We've stayed at POR, AKL, BC and POFQ. POFQ is our hands down favorite. It's a beautiful resort and you'll enjoy it.

My 9 yr old son and I will be staying at POFQ in June and I was wondering if boys would like it. A friend and her daughters loved it but I wanted to make sure it offered something for boys as well. I've heard the pool has a dragon slide.....is it really as neat as it sounds and will my DS9 like the pool area?

The first time my son & I went to Disney was when he was 9 and we stayed at FQ. This is his favorite resort! He absolutely loved the pool. He's 15 now and we've stayed at others since then, but this May, we're going to FQ again. We missed it last year since it was closed. He was just telling me last night how much he liked it there and was glad that I switched from AKL back to FQ for this trip. They have an arcade he likes. The decor of the pool, lobby and food court stands out to him too. He always talks about it more than any other place we've been. Take the boat to DD at least once too. That's a big favorite of both of us. Have a great time!

We have stayed at a few different resorts but this is our first time to POFQ and are looking forward to it. We were at POR in December and when taking the boat to DD you could see them working on the buildings. It looks like a nice resort and I for one am excited to discover its charms! Can't wait to see some pics form others when it opens! :jester:

We've stayed at 2 different moderates, CBR & POFQ. We absolutley prefer POFQ, we love it's theming and the size of the resort. We also love the boat ride to DTD. Take it in the evening!
The food court is great, too. There is no longer a sit down restaurant, but we usually do sit downs in the parks anyway!

Have a wonderful time!
Lori

We stayed at POFQ, CSR, and POR. Our favorite is POFQ: the size, the feeling, the transportation, the pool--it is all wonderful!!
