We just booked our trip for last week of Feb/1st week of March. We had been looking at POFQ and planned to book there. When I went to book the prices had gone up (figures!) and it was going to be a few hundred dollars more to stay at FQ than POR. We decided to save the $ for the trip and stay at POR. I just read the thread asking which resort you prefer and now I am afraid that we made a bad choice just to save some $.

By the way on our last trip we stayed at CBR...

I think that is odd that there is such a price difference between POFQ and POR since they are both moderates and since they are connected :confused3

Anyway I think POR looks beautiful.. you can always walk over to POFQ, since they are right next to each other, and check everything out. I would check out the POR FAQ thread and allearsnet.com to see some pictures and details.

Also did you book online or with a person?? If you booked with a person I would of asked why the price is so diffferent since they are the same category of resort.

Sorry I could not help myself but I just went to Disneys website and priced out POFQ and POR and they cam out to be the same price, here is what I put in.

Feb 26 - March4
2-7day Park Hoppers (adult)
Total came to 1648.14 for either resort

So I am unsure of how you are getting such a difference in the price unless it has to do with the room view :confused3 :confused3

That certainly is strange that there is such a price difference in moderates especially POR and POFQ since they are so closley aligned...huh? Anyway, if you do stay at POR don't worry...while I did enjoy POFQ more than POR, POR is certainly a nice resort. I really enjoyed the food court there, the whole feel of the resort was nice, you still have the boat to DTD which is one of my favorites and the bus service was always good. If it works out that you can book POFQ later then I would but if not I wouldn't stress too much about it. :wave2:

Hey-

Not trying to upset you...

We have have stayed at the POFQ regularly since the renovations. I am assuming the difference in price you are seeing is a reflection on the much newer accomodations at the POFQ. Anyhow, we went as an extended family last holiday season and couldn't book the number of room we needed at the FQ, so we went over to the Riverside. I was super excited. My family has brought me up on Cajun/Creole/Zydeco music from southern Louisiana. I had always wanted to stay in one of the Cajun Cabins at the Riverside.

We ened up in the southern platation rooms. They sucked. They were so dark and very un-Disney, to me and the rest of the family. We all travel to WDW regualrly and are very familiar with accomodations and appointments in them around property. It seemed more like something that should have been in colonial Williamsburg. The rooms are based around a very dark wood. The colors are more a 'urine' yellow (medical family... everything comes back to body functions, to seems :rotfl2: ) and a deep red. The only real hints of Mickey are the hidden ones on the douvet covers.

DFi and I were absolutely disgusted when we noticed semen on the inside of the bed cover. I didn't have to call once..not twice... but THREE times for them to come and remove the thing. Even then, there was no apology or call from a manager. It was obvioulsy semen, as well. It wasn't as though we were blowing something out of proportion. What grossed me out was the idea ANYONE had slept in the bed since the time the covers had been washed. The only thing we could come up with was that they were a couple and only slept in one bed; therefore, the maids only cleaned one set of sheets. It was on the inside white part, so it is entirely possible. I was still furious. Anywhere else with a 100% satisfaction guarentee would have been more helpful and guest-oriented than them.

When we were blocking rooms for our Disney wedding, someone suggested taking the Riverside as the moderate for our guests. It was a a resounding, "NO!" from us. We blocked the FQ instead.

Just my experiences and humble opinions... we were very, very disappointed though.
xoxo

We had a wonderful honeymoon at POR. I found the mansion homes to be beautiful and very peaceful and would LOVE to stay there again. We did walk over to POFQ and it looked very nice as well. POR has a sitdown restuarant, POFQ does not. We loved the DTD boat at night as a nice relaxing ride.

It seems very weird to me about the price difference as I would have thought them to be the same, but I would not hesitate to stay at POR again. We had absolutely no problems there.

Thanks for all the input. I didn't book through Disney, as I find there prices generally higher than the online travel companies. I booked with Expedia with the trip. 7 nights at POFQ were around $1075/pp (including airfare and park hopper plus tickets) POR was around $970. The funny thing is that before the prices went up I think POFQ was actually a little less than POR-but only by $20 or so. I am thinking that the difference at this point may be related to how full they are for that week? Perhaps POFQ is close to full?

Thanks again!!!

Under the mistletoe...You didn't scare me. I sure If I were to ask around enough I could find these type of stories from any resort...even the deluxe. Sorry you had a bad experience! Big congrats on your upcoming wedding!

We had a trip planned last April at POFQ. I was so excited. But when codes came out my TA couldn't get one for me at FQ so we switched to POR to save a couple of hundred dollars. I was crushed but that was a lot so I switched. I requested Mansions, didn't get it. Instead we got building 37 (way out in the back forty), Alligator Bayou, I was set to hate my room. Well we loved it. It was so wonderful, didn't mind the walk, loved the AB furnishings, loved the pool and I would stay there again in a minute. Sometimes things work out the way they are meant to I think. Now we are staying at French Quarter in three weeks and I am wishing we would have booked POR again, I am never satisfied!

Expedia gets blocks of rooms for each resort. As those rooms start to sell (or not sell), they will mark them up or down as the case may be. I use Expedia for Disneyland all the time and they rates fluctuate between the three Disneyland Resort properties.

P.S. That semen story is awful and I don't blame that poster one bit for not wanting to stay at POR again, but people do the nasty at POFQ too so it can happen anywhere.
