did i make the right choice? :scared1: we received a 40% room discount on GF and have decided to go with that instead of free dining. i love the dining plan but GF is a dream that would definitely not be possible without a steep discount. what do you think?

You made the right choice if it allows you to stay at the wonderful GF at a 40% discount! :goodvibes

That is a wonderful discount, and you might never, ever see a discount like that again! :)

Monorail convenience is wonderful at the GF! :thumbsup2

(Have I talked you into it yet? :rotfl: Wonderful! )

If you really want to compare what it is costing you, here's a link to robinb's chart that shows a 40% discount vs free dining (click on the 40% tab at the bottom of the page when you get there):

See what you think! What $$ difference are you really looking at? :cutie:

I definitely think that you made the right choice!!
I passed on free dining this morning :scared1: - we will be at the Poly (MK view) for 9 nights (Aug.22/31). I have AAA discount right now, and hoping for the AP or GP room only discount~
Enjoy the GF!! What a great property!

Without a doubt, 40% at GF. It's hard to not have all this hype of free dining here not affect you.... last year we also took a hefty discount in lieu of free dining (which I could have booked). GF is impossible to get with the free dining, so I would keep what you have and not look back. Congrats!!!:thumbsup2

Robinb's chart is really interesting and makes me freel a whole lot better. Thank you, Seahunt! I called this morning about transferring our CR MK view room with a AAA discount to a free-dining package and was told there was no availability. I felt bad. But looking at Robinb's chart, I see that it is recommended to take the discount when there are only two people. At least I think that's what it says...I am a little data-impaired! Anyway, I feel a whole lot better!

You did made a terrific choice! That is a once in a lifetime deal. I wish I could stay at GF....ahhh, maybe someday! :lovestruc

Have a great time!:yay:

The GF is gorgeous!!! and your right you can't beat 40%, I am so jealous. Have a wonderful time...

Absolutely you made the right choice. Have a great time! GF is a great resort. It was a once in a lifetime for us too once.

I have a similar dilemma to the OP, but I have a 30% off discount at GF. I have looked at Robinb's chart, and I am little confused.:confused3 I don't understand the different sections of the spreadsheet..."Planning to buy DDP anyway" or "Straight comparison".

According to my math...the Garden View at GF is $385 per night. 30% off is a savings of $115.50 per day. The dining plan would cost $95.96 per day. It would appear that the 30% off discount is the better deal. The "DDP anyway" section indicates that FD is a better deal....the "Straight Comparison" sections says that the discount is the way to go.

What am I missing? I swear I am a fairly intelligent person...maybe I have obsessed WAY to much about discounts and FD and now just can't think straight. What is the difference between the two sections????

Thanks for your help!

I did this last year (stayed at BWI) and If you do the math it's as if you have free dining (even more I believe). 40% off is a better deal when staying at a Deluxe. I know it's hard to pass up anything that is "free", but like I said you really are getting free dining with the amount of $ you are saving on the room.:thumbsup2

Thanks so much for all your input. :goodvibes I think I was worrying about passing up free dining at a less expensive hotel but you all have me convinced I made the right decision.
