Tell me how you like/don't like the standard garden wing at the Contemporary?

How is the walk to the lobby & monorail? What is a good room, view or floor to ask for? Can you see the EWP from the rooms? Have you been bumped up to the tower? Would you return? Tell me everything!!!

Thank you!!!:)

only stayed once - but definitely enjoyed it.

they were a few minutes (might have 2 minutes) walk to the tower and monrail.

in the wings - the first floor - you have a patio. there are no balconies.

I think from the end rooms you might see EWP - but to get the entire thing you need to walk out on the boat dock.

no upgrades at the CR for us.

When I stayed in the North Garden Wing in 1980 (yes, 27 years ago! eek!), it wasn't very nice. Granted, I was 13 at the time. But from what I remember the interior hall leading to the room had a low ceiling and was dark and dingy.

The room was large, but things seemed worn. It was definitely ready for a refurbishment.

The view was WONDERFUL, however! We were on the first floor and could step out to the patio and be just feet from the beach. We loved our location. And we were a short walk from the Magic Kingdom.

But two years later, we stayed in a Tower Room and knew we would never go back to the wings. At the time, a Tower Room seemed worth it at any cost.

I am wondering if that is the case now. I could afford a Garden Wing room, but I may have difficulty affording a Tower Room until my daughter is out of childcare and in kindergarten.

If I knew the Garden Wing rooms were recently refurbished and the wing itself didn't feel dingy, I would be back there in a heartbeat.

Can someone who has been inside both recently give me his or her assessment?

Thanks!

The rooms in the tower and the wing were refurbished exactly the same. The hallway in the wing was refurbished as well, but it still has the low ceiling (not much they can do about that). The rooms at the far end of the wing will give you a view of EWP and a wonderful view of the lake, but then you are the farthest from the tower. Personally, I would prefer to be at the end close the tower and walk out to watch EWP. I actually like the standard view, so I can watch the monorails. To me the main difference is that you have a balcony in the tower and no balcony in the wing. If you like to sit out on a balcony with your coffee in the morning, then you might be disappointed. I don't use a balcony much, so it never made any difference to me. I didn't like the elevators in the tower. It seemed like it took forever to get one to stop at our floor and half the time it was full so we'd have to wait for another. I've stayed in the tower three times and in the wings dozens of times. I actually prefer the wings.

I stayed a couple nights in a garden view , wing room this past march. I thought it was beautiful. We were at the end close to the tower. there are patios on the first floor rooms. I would stay again in a heartbeat, if not for the new smoking policy at the resorts. the room was really clean, the service was excellent, short walk to the pool, tower, and beach. Then if you step around to the standard view rooms side, you can see most of the mk fireworks, we watched from the parking lot.
