Tell me how you carry your stuff in the parks

This is the backpack I always take:

It's one of those mini sized ones, so it's about 16 inches tall. It holds everything and it has not yet hurt my shoulders. The patch is just something I added so I know it's mine. Haha. On rides I stick it on the floor and shove my leg through a strap so I won't lose or forget it.
I should warn you about those bags that you pull together at the top with the four little strings... they are usually waterproof and very cute but the straps are thin and they will cut into your arms after a while. I just went to my orientation with one and was in significant pain after a while!

My essentials are:
Wallet
Cell phone
Camera
Ziplock baggies (water rides)
Hand sanitizer
Water bottle
Snacks
Light jacket

And I also take a lanyard to hold my pass and FP's. I don't always wear it, sometimes I prefer to just stash it in the backpack but I always know where my FP's are at without having to take out a wallet.

Oh and sometimes I get a locker for extra water, jackets, pants, and shoes.
Especially when it's warm in the day and cool at night this is a really nice thing to do.

Since I'm super bored....here are photos of my Disneyland fannypack in use....

Things I put in the pack:

medication (tylonol and stuff like that)

That's pretty much it. For Disneyworld we had a small backpack that we kept in a locker. It had extra water bottles, jackets, extra camera batteries, extra socks (in case our feet got wet.) It was well worth the $5 for the locker.

As you can see in the second photo, I use a water bottle strap so I don't have to carry water. My husband and I take turns wearing it. You can also see that when I don't feel like wearing my hat, I just put it through the strap on the fannypack. I don't have to take the pack off for rides, which is great. When I used to use a backpack, it was a pain to have to take it off for rides and have it between my feet. The fannypack is much easier and quicker.

Basically, I used to wear a fanny pack as a child, then I thought they were funny. Now, I love wearing one! It's seriously so easy and I really don't care what it looks like.

I carry a messenger bag that I can wear over a shoulder and have it hang to the other side. That way I can make sure it stays safe. It doesn't go anywhere on rides, because it stays nice and snug.

Messenger bags are great. I take it into the park nearly empty. It just has my camera, medication, and wallet. Throughout the day I can put little packages and souvenirs in it instead of carrying many bags or making repeated trips to the lockers. Of course, it only works for small stuff, but still, I love my messenger bag! It holds a LOT of stuff!

I love stuff from REI - they make great compact/functional carrying items. I have a purse/backpack for snacks, water, sunscreen, ponchos etc. and a waist pack for my camera and camcorder. I also carry my tickets in a holder around my neck. I look quite the tourist with all this stuff on but it's light and functional.

i got the baggellini last year (made to hold tons), but after a couple days, it started getting too heavy with "stuff" and boy my shoulders ached for a week. that's staying in the closet this year.

this year i'm gonna bring my tokidoki mini messenger bag and just carry the 'essentials'. it's small enough to swing out front while on rides and big enough to carry small souvenirs.

i do have a suggestion, when you ride any rides with water (splash, river run), put your phone and/or camera somewhere it won't get wet. 3 years ago my cell phone got splashed on in the grizzly river run, water got into where the battery charger goes and it rusted out!

Our last trip.. I went bagless, and I loved it.

I did wear cargo shorts.

In one large pocket was a small wallet, and a ziplock bag.
In my other large pocket was one autograph book, and a pen.
In my normal sized pockets I had a cell phone.
I wore my camera around my neck.

I have a small camera, that I could of fit in my pocket, but, I decided that the hassle of a camera around my neck was worth the better photos.

It felt great to be bagless!

The kids agreed to share one autograph book. I explained, I was carrying one. That's it. If they all wanted their own, they had to carry them. Instantly, they were willing to share.

The ziplock bag was for my camera, on wet rides.

That's it, we were set!

I was using a waist (fanny) pack a couple times. But the one I bought from Wal-Mart was kind of small and I didn't want to go any bigger. It held one water bottle, my cell, camera, annual pass, credit cards and my ID. Also chap stick and some gum. You can see me with it in my Handy Manny pic in my siggy.

This last trip I bought this bag from Ross. It's like those bags on the infomericial where they're talking about how you're so crazy when you can find your things in your purse. I can't think of the name. Buxton? The one I have is not that brand, but the same thing. With that bag, I can fit 2 water bottles, my sunglasses, AP, credit cards, gum, camera, phone and so much more. It slings over my shoulder, which normally my shoulder kills by the end of the day, but suprisingly with that bag I was fine..

DW wears a Disney fanny pack. She takes the credit card, cash, camera and whatever else she wants. I always wear shorts with many pockets that close with buttons. I keep a credit card and our tickets, as I am the FP runner. We are thinking of getting our kids (DS6 and DD8) their own fanny packs since they are always asking one of us to carry stuff for them.

We use Jansport backpacks. Usually one is dedicated to Bottled Waters (DBIL tends to get that one). At least it lightens up later in the day for him! DMom likes the Disney Cinch Sak Backpacks with the year on them...

I've used fanny packs every single time I've gone to Disney, which has been quite a few times. But for this DL trip I'm taking in a few weeks, I've decided to use a drawstring backpack (I got it when I saw Legally Blonde the musical). It actually has a zipper pocket on it which can be really useful. I'd just like to try a drawstring bag this time. My parents though are still going to use fanny packs

Jade - personally I would not get DS6 a backpack. My DD6 liked the idea of a cute backpack but would not actually carry said backpack around the parks. It spent it's time in the stroller or inside another (adult size) pack (and then at the hotel after the first day).

We do use backpacks for the girls on the airplane - it carries all of their essentials for flying such as crayons, paper, books, MP3 players, one "baby" and a travel pillow. In this regard they are really helpful and DD6 was able to at least lug it around the airport.

No one has said anything about what I use Sooo... I will chime in here.

My favorite if it is not too hot is a fishing or camera vest, I swear mine has at least 1000 pockets. Seriously I can carry two sweatshirts, four bottles of water, Cameras and cell phone, small first aid kit and most everything we need without any trouble. It is nice as the weight is distributed more evenly than a back back. One other thing is they look at me and wave me through the bag check line.

This is going to be our very first trip with NO diaper bag!!
Usually, we had the diaper bag, and then DH would of course keep his wallet on him, and then I just carried a belt bag that I got from BebeSport. It is just like a fanny pack, just much cutier . It is always important to be cute!! The belt bag had 2 pockets, in 1 pocket would just be my camera, the other pocket had my cell phone, room key, disney gift card and disney dollars (how I pay for everything at DLR), and PHs/FPs. And of course, the belt bags do not need to be taken off when going on a ride, maybe just slightly adjusted.

This year, since we are going diaper bag free, we will be taking a backpack I got at the Disney Store last year for hecka cheap to keep sweatshirts, etc in. More than likely, that will be stored in a locker.

Hmmm I don't really carry anything! Usually I have my cell phone (it has a camera) in one pocket and some tissue in another. I wear my lanyard knotted so no one could run past me and rip the velcro apart to steal it. In the little plastic lanyard pocket, I keep my ID, ticket, room key, any FP, and usually $20 or so. When we go on rides or when it's really extra crowded, I tuck my lanyard inside my shirt/sweatshirt.

I used to wear a fanny pack, but the last few times I've gone it's been chilly enough for long pants, so lots of pocket options!
