Tell me everything you know about Soarin'!

Okay, my 7 year old son is afraid of heights, though he does enjoy Peter Pan's ride. In your opinion, would he be still be afriad of Soarin? We will be in Disney August 12-19 and this is something my 12 year old daughter is looking forward to doing.

I am also afraid of heights. I went on Soarin with my family and loved it, but didn't go on the second time.

I felt at times as if I was going to fall even though I knew it wouldnt' happen. It was a great scary feeling all in one at some times during the ride and I am sooo glad that I went on it.

However, if I was a 7 year old, I dont' think I would be able to tell myslef that I am safe and truly enjoy the ride.

I did at times close my eyes. So perhaps if you do decide to have your 7 year old go on it, you should make sure you sit next to him, so that you can tell him to close his eyes in case he gets scared during the ride. You will be able to lean forward and see your son, something that my kids loved doing , to scare me even more!

I was in the front row, so maybe this is why I felt that we went REALLY high off of the ground.

My four year old was a bit nervous about falling. But, he rode it twice. (We didn't really give him an option though).

I agree with sitting in the front row. I did front once, and middle once, and the feet were a bit distracting from the reality. Row 1 is definately best.

Standby line was terribly long in July, Fast Pass is the way to go.

A great ride. We concluded our WDW vacation with this ride.

I think the back row is lifted 40 feet off of the floor.
It is a simple seatbelt, with an additional crotchstrap for smaller folk.

It is awesome!
Time without a fast pass varies I am sure according to season!

One of the best rides Disney has ever made. The whole audience applauded at the end. They should have built two Soarin theaters instead of one.

If you have a true fear of heights, do NOT do Soarin. I was a panic the whole time and could not enjoy the ride. That will be my one and only try!!

I don't love heights, and I was pretty high up (one of the top tiers) on my ride and it was no problem. If you can watch an IMAX film you should be fine.

I have ridden the version at California Adventure a couple of times, once in the front (top row) and once on the bottom. For me, having people's legs waving in front of me really spoiled the effect. It sounds like the rides are similar (does anyone know for sure?) so I would strongly recommend requesting a front row seat, even if you have to wait a little longer, it is SO worth it!

you will not know how high you are. when i was on it i just watched the screen and smelled the smells and i had no idea how high i was. the only way youd know how high you are is by looking down. i suggest trying it.

Since everyone else already answered your questions, I will just emphasize that this ride is incredible! We waited "an hour" in the stand by line when we went in May (felt like FOREVER) but it was worth it....however I will be getting a FP from now on! Definitely do NOT miss this!

P.S Does anyone else think it would be cool if they modified the ride to take you over Florida instead of Cakifornia (where the ride came from)?

That's been suggested a fair few times, I think maybe Disney will try and incorporate it in the future. I hope so anyway.

The ride is the same as the one in California.

I personally don't think it would work as well if they used Florida since California has the many different climates, views, and smells to offer that Florida does not have. Florida is so flat, and does not offer the beauty of California. I never would have thought so until I went there two years ago, and fell in love with California. It's amazing that one state can offer so much. Mountains, beaches, cool weather, hot weather, wineries, and most of all, Disneyland.

But, it would be cool if they did show Florida in California to give the people on the west coast a taste of Florida, and, as they are now, show California in Florida to give the people on the east coast a taste of California.

I hope they never get rid of Soarin in Florida...it is such an awesome ride.

Not been to all of Florida have you? The Drive down I-75 near Brooksville is quite hilly. Nothing like California, no Mountains, but, not flat for sure. There is also the Keys, A1A, the Space Coast, Jacksonville, the Swamps of the Okeefenokee, the bluffs of the Swannee River and the uplands in the panhandle. Tampa Bay is huge and best enjoyed from above.

As for smells, there are pine forest at Orange trees in Florida also.

I am not from Floridia, but, I do enjoy being there.

They're using the California footage as part of the Happiest Celebration on Earth. I understand a new movie is in the works for the Florida attraction.
