I have read pages and pages on this ride but I'm still clueless! Pics would also be appreciated :)

I know more or less what the rides about but these are some of the things I'm still clueless about...

1) Is it true you are elevated 40ft?!
2) What is the theatre like? Is it a theatre?
3) How are you strapped in? The pics I've seen so far look like you could just drop out at any time!
4) What are the waiting times like without Fastpass?

Thanks guys!

All you really need to know is that it is cool! :thumbsup2

It's not the least bit scary. You have no real concept of how high you are. You are strapped in, and never really feel like you could drop out. It only looks like a theater until the lights go out!

The wait can be a little long even with fast pass, so get one. (The wait without always looks painful to me!)

1) Is it true you are elevated 40ft?!
- If you are in the top row, yes.

2) What is the theatre like? Is it a theatre?
- It is a big theater with a curved screen. THe whole thing is black except the screen which is designed to encompass your periphery vision. There are 3 sections with 3 rows of seats in each. The front row will wind up on top.

3) How are you strapped in? The pics I've seen so far look like you could just drop out at any time!
- There are seat belts for adults. Smaller aviators have a belt that goes thru their legs too for a little extra help. You'd have to really work at falling out of your seat. I guess it could be done, but not on accident

4) What are the waiting times like without Fastpass?
- At opening, maybe 20 minutes. Within an hour of opening & the rest of the day, an hour minimum up to 2 hours. Fast Passes are absolutely necessary for this attraction.

DW and I went on this attraction late in the day, and were unable to get a fastpass... they had already run out. So we decided to do it anyway. After what seemed like FOREVER we finally made it to the front of the line. Ok, so it was like 2 hours or so, but considering all trip the max we ever waited was 10-15 mins this seemed really horrible. Anyway, I can say that it was Definately worth the Wait! :thumbsup2

My question is this.

I have read that it' samazing and all.,But I have been on lots of simulators including Back to the future at Universal, and this one seems to be the same type of thing. I have seen that it has fans that blow "wind" and smells and stuff. But one thing I don' tlike about simulators is you don't feel things like gravity and stuff. Thats why I loved Mission Space, it felt real.

In a real hangglider you would be laying down, feel the gravity pulling you down as the glider pulled up and all that.

So. How does this ride compare to all that?

Since your feet are off the ground you do get the feeling of gravity, although you are sitting. It truly is an amazing feeling. The closest I would want to be to the real thing.

You are seat belted in (seats are like airplaine seat and you buckle in) It can go up pretty high depending on what row you are in if you are afraid of heights (like me) get the last two rows in the back. Wait time sign said 40 min but we were only in line for about 25 min maybe 30 at the most. Its really cool, you have to try it!

The seatbelts hold you in very securely, plus there are arms on the seats that you can hold. Think of it this way, nobody's fallen out yet.

The seats will bank into turns and dip when you are "flying" lower. They also tip back a little when you are "flying" up. The coordination of very subtle movements with the film are perfect! :thumbsup2

Don't forget to look up, down and side to side, to take in the whole picture.

It is absolutely magical. There is truly nothing like this. Everyone in my family said it was our favorite ride out of every other one.

I would go there immediately as soon as you get to Epcot. We went on right away and only had to wait 5-10 min. Then we got off and hopped right back in line and waited approx. 20 min.

Ask the Castmember if you can get a front row seat...otherwise you'll have peoples legs in the way of your view. The ride is EXCELLENT!

Really? I've never seen anyone's legs. I've never been aware of the other rows at all, it's so realistic. You really saw the legs of the people above you?

Try to get a fastpass if you can. We did but the lady riding next to me said they had waited 90 minutes to get on it. After it ended I turned to her and said, "I bet that was worth the 90 minute wait" and she totally agreed! Be sure to try to look down at your feet. The scenery is all around you! It is just unbelievable!

You really can ask for anywhere you want, just ask and they will place you in the correct area. I prefer front/top row, middle section. It is a fabulous ride. :thumbsup2

SMELL THE SMELLS!

And Look for the Golf Ball. It has a surprise on it.

Ooooooh, after reading all the replies to this thread, I am excited about going on 'Soarin' for the first time....:hyper:

Okay, my 7 year old son is afraid of heights, though he does enjoy Peter Pan's ride. In your opinion, would he be still be afriad of Soarin? We will be in Disney August 12-19 :tink: and this is something my 12 year old daughter is looking forward to doing. pixiedust:

ALl your son has to do is close his eyes if he is scared and it will all go away. You really don't notice how high it takes you up since it does it in the dark.

Miss Inga Depointe:

Since I was advised to sit in the front row, that's the only place I've sat so I can't say whether you really see others legs in front of you. I have heard others say so though.

I like the front row, too. The legs are distracting (especially when they swing.)

Ride it first thing or get a FP. The waits are loooong. Of course, I wouldn't wait an hour or two for anything but lottery winnings.
