I want to plan a trip for October 1 - 9 2011. Please tell me everything I need to know about MNSSHP and anything else I need to know about going in October. This will be our second trip. The crew will be myself DS-3 DS-9 and DH. We will be staying off site and will be eating most meals off site as well. I just need any advice you guys have for visiting Disney in October. Thanks

We were there last year those same dates *it was our 1st trip* we had a fabulous time but it was way too hot and humid *we saw very little rain*

Our absolute BEST Disney vacation was in October!

It was our Honeymoon!

We got off the plane on Sunday afternoon and his the mobile connection corridor and it was steamy - sweltering hot - and we thought - OH NO! We are going to be miserable this week!

Well we just spend Sunday getting settled into the resort and unpacking for a weeks stay - and planning out our Monday!

Well we woke up on Monday morning - I turned the TV on as we were getting ready - and the weather man said - "We are going to be experiencing some very unseasonable temperatures this week" :sad2:
"A COLD FRONT is moving in and will be with us all week!"
:worship:

We were so excited!

Sure enough it was beautiful ALL week - very very low humidity - I don't think it got above the low 80's the entire week. Big white puffy clouds and vast beautiful blue skies!

It was amazing!

We have been over labor day weekend and the week after 2 different times now - and IT WAS HOT! HUMID!! and MISERABLE!!!

By far the best seasonable trip we have had was last December - but the best unseasonable trip was in October of 2006!

You can run into hurricane weather effects AUG-NOV so....

Be prepared with the really inexpensive disposable ponchos from home - or you will blow your budget on the Disney ponchos that you have to lug around.

With the disposable ones you almost forget you have them - they take up very little space - and you don't have to worry about drying them out - rolling them up - and packing them in your park bag.

Overall anything outside of June, July, and August will be much more bearable than peak season. As it turns out peak season in Orlando is the WORST weather of the year!

We are getting very excited about our trip the week after Thanksgiving!

It will be :santa: season for us with all of the holiday decorations - and the candlelight processional!

I think you'd probably get a lot more responses posting this on the them parks board, than here on the budget board.

Hope it gets some more responses as I'm planning a trip in october around the same time

I've been a few times in October and it has never been cold on any of my trips. I love Disney in October, we've had some of our best vacations then. I would recommend the Haunted Carriage Ride at Fort Wilderness. It was so much fun. We would do the Hoop-de-doo Revue and then schedule the carriage ride for right after that. We have also done MNSSHP which is great as well. Trick or Treating in WDW at night and hardly any lines for the rides. Scary smoke all around the park. It's just a really great time to go!

The Haunted Carriage Ride is great! We also really enjoyed MNSSHP!

we have been there the last few octobers and most of the time the weather is warm but last year it was HORRENDOUS...90-95 every day with very high humidity. We call it our 'vampire vacation' because we mostly stayed in and read and relaxed, going out mostly at night. We went to MNSSHP and our makeup actually melted off.

It can be coolish (ie, LIVEABLE) in the evening...sometimes a light jacket was warranted. And it has rained LOTS. You have to prepare for everything weatherwise.

Crowds are usually light. We love the Halloween decorations and the MNSSHP. It's our favorite function at WDW.

Life long Floridian here. In Oct, especially the beginning it will be hot. Not as bad as the summer but still pretty darn hot. As far as rain, I really don't recall it raining that much in Oct. nothing is set in stone, its Florida, if there is a cold front coming in (which is doubtful) you will get rain. Otherwise you may or you amy not. AFter checking weather patterns in Florida, Oct is actually usually a dry month, so you can't depend on rain to cool things off. Welcome to Florida.

The MNSSHP is wonderful, the parade is a must do. The crowds are ususally pretty good. We are going at the end of Oct this year and the crowd calender is really slow. I am praying for cooler weather. We have cooled down to a respectable high 80's right now.

Thanks for the info, we are going Oct 22-30 and staying off site too. I was there 16 years ago mid October on my honeymoon and the weather was great. I have been there in June too, much more heat and humidity. We have our cheap ponchos and are ready to rock in roll!

We'll be arriving Oct 12th so I was curious too about all of this. Does it get cooler in the evenings once the sun sets? Cool enough to need a sweater or pullover and jeans?

I took my DD in October 5yrs ago. First I was surprised how hot and muggy it was. Not terribly bad, but more than what I expected. The crowds were not bad and MNSSHP was a lot of fun. We skipped the late parade and rode Splash Mountain over and over. . .no line and the CM just kept letting us go again and again. THAT was priceless!

The only thing that really sticks out though, and I don't know if it's still the case, but there were lots of Brits there. Apparently, it was a school holiday for them.

ETA- I forgot about the Food and Wine festival at Epcot. That was fun. My daughter got lots of free goodies to eat at the booths because of her birthday, and my mom and I did a wine tasting. . .mom was a little tipsy. . .lol!
