We are going to Disneyworld in just a few weeks and I am beyond excited. This is our first trip and I just can't wait.

We are staying at All Star Movies for the entire week and I want to know the good, the bad and the ugly. I would love to see pictures too!!!!!

TELL ME EVERYTHING!!!!

I love the All star resorts. I have tried them all and it kinda feels like home everytime we go.

ASmo is a very good choice if you have kids. The icons are all character related. We stayed in the preferred building in 2004...wouldn't necessarily recommend it unless you have small children.

Rooms are big enough for 4 and have all you need for comfort. The food court and gift shop are really nice. I wouldn't hesitate to chosse this resort again, I thought the bus service was actually really good. Many people complain about Disney transportation to the All stars, we never had a problem.

Headed to Pop in Jan.....hope I don't regret my decision.

I do have children (DD6 and DD10) and when we were looking at the different hotels, All Star Movies is what caught their eyes, or should I stay, Woody, caught their eyes.

2006 will be our 4th trip to WDW, I know we are considered newcomers to some who have been 3 times that amount but here is my opinion (for all it's worth, but you asked...)

Let me start by saying that I have never stayed anywhere else but ASMo. Every time we get ready to go I pour over the web sites and read everyone's posts, weigh the pro's and con's but I always come back to ASMo.
Here's why:
1. I love the themeing. I feel like such a kid when I'm there.
2. the cost. I'm sorry but when you go to WDW (I am speaking for me..) You get up at 8am catch a bus and come back between 10-11 pm -maybe you come back to change or take a swim if it gets too hairy. But for the most part, the function of a hotel when you have a great place like WDW is to " sleep, shower, and swim" What is the point of spending $200 a night for a bigger room to sleep in? (again...my opinion only)
3. size of the resort. Have you seen the size of POP? it's almost as big as ASMo, ASM, & ASSP together. with ONE bus stop and ONE lobby to check in.
can you say CROWDS?????
4. I'm not that big into sports, ASSP does not really appeal to me and neither does ASM.
5.as one post said above, it feels like home. My kids LOVE it there. They know where everything is, I can turn them loose to go get drinks or play on the playground..

Now, this is not a place for adults without kids, for all of the reasons I mentioned above, families love this resort. There are kids EVERYWHERE> which makes it more fun for my kids!!!!

As far as what it offers, the basics....2 pools , food court (which by the way has always been yummy. Not gourmet like what you may encounter at moderate resorts but yummy and affordable) a playground, gift shop, game room etc..
2 thumbs up from this family!!!!!

DH and I spent 6 nights at ASM about three weeks ago. It was our first time there. We liked it pretty well. The price was the reason we picked it in the first place. We stayed in the Toy Store section. Which is what I requested when I made the reservations. Our room was nice and very clean. The decorations were fun and cute. I loved the big Woody and Buzz out in the courtyard area. The food court was ok. Nothing to special, I did like the mickey waffles though. YUM :goodvibes . The giftshop was very nice. Saw stuff there I didn't see at the parks. The only two things that bugged me were how thin the walls were, and the desk help was no help. We could hear our neighbors kids very clearly. Thankfully they went to bed early and all was well. As long as the people next to you are considerate then you should be fine. The desk help didn't know anything about the area and a lot of them didn't speak very good english. So that was annoying when you needed to know how to get somewhere. The cms in the giftshop were very nice though. Should have asked them. :goodvibes All in all we liked it and would stay there again for the money. We also liked that McDonalds was so close by. Oh and they have great chocolate cake at that McDonalds. :teeth:

All Star Movies is great!

FYI - All we do in the room is sleep but this place is great!

The cost of the rooms was a big issue with me too when I was looking. I don't see the point in spending big bucks on a room when you are hardly there. I would rather have that extra money for spending money and fun stuff.

The different sections are Fantasia, Toy Story, Herbie, Mighty Ducks, and 101 Dalmations. There's a Fantasia pool, and a quiet pool at Mighty Ducks. The theming is all disney, IMO more disney than all other resorts. It's my favorite of all the values. We have a tradition of ordering at a late night all star pizza from the food court at least once every time we stay. It's loud due to the large amounts of families, but it never bothered us, and it's not as loud as POP.

Hi

We are currently staying at All Star Movies in a room directly oppossite the large Buzz Icon. A gem of a room as my son loves Buzz. The rooms have high speed internet if you are in need of it just plug the ethernet cable into the back of your laptop and off you go. The food has a reasonable selction of foods, we have been splitting two mains between three of us which has worked out well. We purchased the Disney Dining Card and it has paid for itself already.

A wonderful themed resort to stay at.

We have stayed at all the value resorts and think they are great. I don't think you will be disappointed. Have a great time. :wave2:

I heard that you have to pay a fee to use the high speed internet in the rooms. I plan on bringing my laptop with me. Can you confirm/deny having to pay for internet?

I have been waivering back and forth between Pop and ASmo. Currently our resevation is at Pop. Every time I look at the pictures of ASMo on allearsnet.com the rooms look so bright. They seem a little too stimulating to me. The rooms at Pop seem a little more mellow. Is this just the way the rooms at ASMo are photographing or are they pretty bright?

Much thanks! :flower:
