We are planning a trip to the World in October and are staying at the BWV's. I convinced DH to stay an extra night (and booked the plane tix IMMEDIATELY so he couldn't change his mind). Now, in 10 or so trips I have NEVER seen the WL in person. It is the only resort I haven't seen besides CSR. We opted to stay there for the last night to check it out.
I need to hear all the wonderful things about it!!

It is truly a beautiful building, and I would rank it as the best hotel I've ever stayed at (not just in Disney, but anywhere). My absolute favorite thing about it is the feeling of seclusion. The building is situated so that you hardly see any other part of Disney World- from the beach all you see is wild growth on the oposite shore. I love being able to lounge in a beach chair and stair off into the woods. It is a peaceful feeling.

Any chance you could stay a little longer than one night? Although jaw-droppingly beautiful, what makes this place so special is a certain something... I found the Cast Members to be the most friendly of any Disney resort we've ever stayed at :earsgirl: :earsboy: . The grounds are amazing and peaceful. The details are so special. We stayed 3 nights and it was barely enough...
Could you transfer a few of your nights at BWV to WL? You won't regret it ;)

I really can't switch. There are a number of reasons. One being, we are going with friends and we are all staying at the BWV, we also rented points so I have a contract, we are only paying $90 a night so that is how we were able to afford an extra night AND the biggest reason of all.......DH isn't a big WDW fan. He goes for me but he LOVES being within walking distance of World Showcase. It's how I get him to agree to go! :rotfl:

I am thinking if he tries the WL for anight we may find a new place he enjoys as much for furture trips! It was a great suggestion though.

Well, maybe you can go and spend most of the day enjoying the resort rather than the parks ;) I know you will LOVE it :wizard:
Good luck :wave2:

I love ALL of disney but it's DH I am trying to convince! :flower:

Wilderness Lodge is probably one of our favorites, just because we live in the north and the interior and exterior decor is like being in Montana. CM's are the best there and the pool and waterfallcan't be beat. Having a hot and cold jacuzzi helps alot and its the seclusion and quietness of the lodge, plus I like the USA outside my door in the am, before the boat ride to the MK. A boat to Fort Wilderness, Crockett's Tavern, has about the best pizza, and beer pitchers, after 9pm and chicken you could want. I'm not a chicken eater at home, but there I have to have 2 breasts and cole slaw to keep me happy. At night we walk to the rent a boat dock for the nightly water pageant and looking to our right we can see MK fireworks. At night the pool is the best, no people, well lit, wine in the jacuzzi. Swear I died and went to Disney heaven!! Never a regret at this resort!!

Never heard of Crockett's Tavern but that chicken sounds fabulous! Is it only available after 9pm? You make it sound soooo great!

If you are a morning person (or DH is) get up REAL early (6ish) grab a cup of Joe (I would add hot chocolate to make it a mocha)
and hit the jacuzzi - you will be all alone (other then the attendandt picking up sometimes) and the view of the resort all quiet, and the sun rising over the lake - then the geiser's first eruption is the signal to go wake everyone else up!
Wooo-hoooo
I can't wait to go back!

rent mouse boats right there
play in the sand at the beach
the bridge in the lobby was my ds's favorite spot
The FIREPLACE and rocking chairs
the boat ride to MK
watching the water parade at night

ohhh I could go on and on and on :thewave:

DH --- who if asked on a random survey would say is not a fan of WDW, but secretly loves the place --- will now, only go to WL. He likes the fact that theme is great, you feel like you are on a vacation in the woods, its fairly quiet, the views from just about everywhere are great and you feel like a million miles away from everything (even though you are not). We love the Hot tub, the lounge, the way everything is in one building, no need to go from building to building to get anywhere. The CM's are GR8!! Escpecially Ranger Stan, who is so great with any questions. I would go to the link here on the DIS called the NEW WL FAQ (part 5) to check out more pics, and info.

BWV are great looking too and it sounds like you got a great deal.... enjoy your trip.

How can I forget... I am getting hungry just thinking about it. :goodvibes

OK in 10 trips no towel animals! Maybe WL will be the one.

I would love a hot tub with a hot chocolate all alone. I have 2 kids but maybe I could sneak out alone REALLY early! That is soooooooo awesome. DH will not thank you though! :rotfl:

This is just the info I needed!

I am so glad to see this thread... there is another recent thread where a family had a very bad experience and I am so hoping theirs was not typical...

we'll be at WL July 13 to 19. :Pinkbounc

Absolutely! Artist Point is our favorite restaurant on Disney property. We absolutely love eating here. Each time we have received truly superior service and wonderful food. The berry cobbler alone is worth $100 LOL! :teeth:
