We just booked a 2-bedroom villa for July ... we've never stayed at this resort. We've stayed at Boardwalk before so I'm familiar with room set-ups, etc. But what types of views are available at the Wilderness Villas ... is there a direct water view where the electric parade comes through. Are there ground floor 2-bedrooms? Is the quiet pool at the villas a quick easy walk? How long is the walk to the main pool at the lodge?

Sorry for all the questions ... but we're so excited to stay there!

Hi, LorieDisneyLover. I know you said that you never "stayed" at this resort before, but have you ever seen it?
If not, you are in for a real treat...

Let's see...

Most of the WLV units have a woods or quiet pool view.

You can see the electrical water pageant through the trees from some of these units but I don't believe any units have a direct view.

Yes, I believe there are ground floor 2BRs but you wouldn't get a good view of the water pageant from them. You will also have to deal with people walking right outside your unit, moreso for some units than others.

The quiet pool is right outside the villas building. To get to the main pool you can either walk up to the main lobby and out the back doors or you can walk out of the villa building and around the lodge-building wing to the pool.

Visit http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/wlv41.jpg for a map of the resort.

You SHOULD be excited to stay there -- it's WONDERFUL! ::yes::

We stayed in a 2BR there on our lasttrip -- according to my pile o' saved stuff, we stayed in 4507. (I KNOW it was 4th floor, and my little envelope from thattrip has "4507" written on it -- but for some reason, on some of the sites compiled by others, they do NOT show this as a 2br dedicated -- well, it was, I assure you, and it was AWESOME.) We had a room that looked out over the quiet pool, beyond which was a PERFECT view of the bay. Every night as we put young'uns to bed, we could see and hear (if we opened the door and so chose to) the EWP from our room! At night, the twinkling, flickering lights around the pool were so pretty. And the VWL just makes you FEEL cooler, which is GREAT in the summer heat! The quiet pool was a VERY easy walk. And really, the "main" pool was no biggie either.. very scenic, in fact, and the kids were thrilled to see bunnies in the grass or ducks near the shore. We saw otters by the boat dock, and once when we were there in January, baby ducklings were out and about! WAYYYYY cute. I want to say that the walk from main pool around the bend by the lake and back to the quiet pool was no more than 3 or 4 minutes... and from quiet pool to that back entrance of VWL was seemingly 2 minutes... but maybe it just SEEMED that fast!?! I know I don't recall it being so long that my 2 yr old ever needed a lift.. we had to really trot to keep up the pace with HER!

We loved our stay there! We're actually testing new waters and staying at BWV, BCV, and SSR this summer, but if I coud squeeze VWL in the mix -- I WOULD! Enjoy!!!

We stayed at our home, Wilderness Lodge Villas, for the first time during the New Year 2003 holiday. We loved it. The rooms were big and comfortable. Everything was close and convenient. Even our teenage daughter liked the fact that she could "hook up" with other kids her age.

Also remember that the main lodge, which is connected to the villas by a short covered walkway, is one of the most spectacular buildings in all of WDW.

As you can see in the picture, most of the VWL (red roof) views are of the woods, in keeping with the theming of the resort.

And the quiet pool is right where the villas bend to the left a bit...in that little indentation area there on the right side in this picture. So yes, it's very close to the villas.

You can also see the main pool at the Lodge in between the "arms" of the Wilderness Lodge (green roof). Another easy walk!

Because of the trees it is difficult to see the Electrical Water Parade. But it's great to sit on that beach in the picture and watch it go by with your favorite adult beverage in hand!

You'll have a great time...enjoy!

You are going to love this resort. We stayed there for President's Week last month and fell in love. This resort is my new favorite place to stay

One think to be prepared for is the distance to the parking, as you can see by the map. As long as your ready for that ahead of time, you'll be very impressed. It's a wonderful addition to the DVC family. Some say it is the second or third best DVC resort out of all of them.

is the view of the Electric Water Parade same from the beach as it is from the dock? It doesnt turn there, does it?

On that map what is the area behind (not on water side) of the DVC bldg? And what is the little red bldg on that far end?

When cutting thru from the lodge to DVC is it quicker to cut thru where the arms meet the main bldg? or at the end of the arm? All we need is our key to get in those hallways, right?

(I know these are little picky questions but some of us actually enjoy the little details - thank you)

We're hoping to stay there in November. Just waiting for the 7 month window to get here. We already have our reservation set at OKW in case we are unable to get in this. From everything we've seen and read, we're really excited about the chance to stay here.:earsgirl:

Another vote for LOVED IT. OKW is still our favorite. But WLV is a close second!

Oh, my........ THANK you everyone! Now I'm even more excited for this trip.

We have stayed at the Lodge many years ago ... in fact, we were one of the first guests when it opened. We had only 2 children then ... but now have five ... so the 2-bedroom will come in handy... along with the washer and dryer.

Granny, thanks so much for the picture ... made everything a LOT clearer.

Oh, I just can't wait!!!!!

Oh Desperado, you are KILLING me!! :p :p :p That's why valet parking is one of the greatest inventions of modern time!

Yeah, I'd VWL in the top 7 DVC resorts world wide!

Now for some real comments/questions:

is the view of the Electric Water Parade same from the beach as it is from the dock? It doesnt turn there, does it?

Yes it's the same view from either. I would say that the beach area is a little better as the parade "starts" around the middle of the resort and goes past the beach in the direction of Fort Wilderness.

On that map what is the area behind (not on water side) of the DVC bldg? And what is the little red bldg on that far end?

I'm not sure what your first question is referring to. My guess is that you're looking at the walkway to the bus station that VWL and WL share. The little red bldg on the end is the infamous maintenance/service area....a.k.a. the "dumpster" area where a few rooms look over and can hear the service and trash trucks. For some, it is bothersome enough to request to be placed in a room without that view. To avoid it, you can ask to be near the elevators (which are where the building "bends").

When cutting thru from the lodge to DVC is it quicker to cut thru where the arms meet the main bldg? or at the end of the arm? All we need is our key to get in those hallways, right?

Either way works. From Roaring Forks, for instance, which is near the pool we go either way depending on whether we want to walk past both pools, or cut through the awesome WL lobby. I usually go one way, and come back the other. You don't need a room key to cut through the main lobby area, and "cutting through the arms" is not an option even with a room key.

(I know these are little picky questions but some of us actually enjoy the little details - thank you)

For us, one of the great things about VWL/WL (and all WDW) is the attention to detail. And I don't think you'll find people here that mind sharing and discussing those details! :)

The only DVC with a food court also. It is in the main building but its a short walk and easy to hit on the way to or from the boats.
