Did you like it? Anything you want to share about anything including day at WDW? Do you find the clientele and service different from the Florida departures? Thank you

We are sailing in October, and I have found it to be pretty difficult to find out info on these cruises out of NYC. It doesn't seem like that many DISers have embarked from NY. And, remember, one sailing last year was rescheduled for Canada instead and many guests canceled. I am praying for a magical cruise and a couple of amazing days in NYC beforehand....along with smooth seas!

back in 2012 is was great. I found more people did activities on the cruise I was on, but that can change cruise to cruise. I loved having to only drive a hour there and home. WDW was a long and fun day. We got up early and were at Hollywood Studios for opening and then hit up Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We aren't ride people so that trip didn't do many rides. We were back at the ship by 10:00pm since it started raining we left Epcot early

I did that cruise last year. I've taken 14 Disney cruises and this was the best one, mostly due to the intinerary. Cruising from New York is very special. The day at Disneyworld was so much fun. We are doing it again this year.

This will be my 3rd NYC cruise in Nov. Love the 7 day and would skip the 8 day with the stop in the Bahamas. The difference is price is huge and Bahamas not worth IMO. Love having 4 sea days. The day at WDW is extremely organized and well run and the only bad day at CC is when you can dock.

Not a Castaway Cay fan??

Have sailed the Bahamas cruise from NY on the Magic back in 2012 and was scheduled last year but our itinerary was changed to Canada due to the storm coming up the coast. We opted to sail anyway even though DCL offered a full refund. The ship was pretty empty on that cruise....so empty they combined the two dining times into one at 7:30 pm (which was a very nice time...not too early, not too late).

The WDW day back in 2012 was run very efficiently and since then they have implemented the 3 "anytime" fastpasses which sounds great!

I would do it again in a heartbeat.....I love sailing out of NYC...so beautiful and since we live about 25 minutes from the port so convenient.

I have also done many other DCL cruises from NY (a few Canada ones, and a 2 night cruise to nowhere). Have also sailed into NYC on the 2015 Transatlantic to Europe and the Barcelona to NY transatlantic last year.

We sailed last year from NY! We live right outside of Philadelphia so the convenience could not be beat! I loved being able to drive right up and park at the port. So easy and convenient. Our cruise was either the 1st or 2nd after the re-routed one to Canada so our cruise was PACKED. It rained and was chilly on the first day so the Sail away party was in the atrium which was crowded but fun! The Day at Disney was great and was just enough for my 4 and 5 year olds. They had fun at the Magic Kingdom and we enjoyed our 3 fast passes but they couldn't wait to get back to the ship. It was no problem catching the bus back to the ship. They handed out bus schedules so that made it convenient to plan your way back to the ship from whichever park you were at!

It was chilly on the way down the coast for the 1st day or 2 but the crew had blankets out for you to snuggle with and watch the big screen. It was so cool to be able to sit out there at night and watch football games too! It was also a little chilly on the way back on the last day. There was plenty to do so it wasn't a big deal!

I would also suggest getting up super early on the morning you pull back into NY. Gorgeous views of NYC and the Statue of Liberty as you pass! Grab some coffee/tea/hot chocolate! Well worth the early wake up!

I would definitely do the cruise out of NY again...and especially now that they have the Bermuda Itinerary (just for something different)...the hard part is it being in October/November and pulling the kids out of school!

We loved it! My kids...and us...can't wait to go back on our next Disney cruise out of FL this time though! We are hooked!

We SO want to do this itinerary! But we are only looking at Tgiving week bc we can't pull the kids out of school. Blackout date I'm assuming.

This is the info I've been looking for. Thank you! What were the dates of your cruise? Also been wondering if we don't need a verandah (well, i need a verandah but if we can't use the 10% off bc of blackout dates something has to go!)

Ours was 10/22 - 10/29. We had an inside cabin on deck 2 and had no issues at all! We booked the next cruise on the Fantasy with a verandah only because we have 2 younger kids and when they go to bed...one of us needs to stay in the room (obviously)...so we thought it would be nice to have somewhere to sit outside when the kids are sleeping. My husband would end up going up on deck or somewhere quiet and read while the girls and I fell asleep! We booked our next cruise while on board so we were able to get a decent price on a verandah room next time so we jumped on it. I would have no problem doing an inside room again though!

The only problem I had with service for a NVC sailing was at the terminal during check in. The people there really didn't know what they were doing and I put this off as inexperience since DCL hadn't sailed from there in a couple of years. Once we got on the ship, everything was the same.

They use an outside agency, not true Disney employees so they are definitely not up to Disney standards. I have also found they often don't know what to do or know all the answers to any questions.

We sailed out once in 2012. Loved it. We live NJ, so it was so convenient no airfare or long drive to port.

We are excited for our 2nd NYC cruise this October and then a 3rd next year to Bermuda.

I worked in Manhattan for over 10 years and hubby's law office is in Brooklyn, so I am familiar and used to NYC. but, you never get tired of the beautiful skyline and view sailing out of the Hudson River.

You asked about difference in clientele and service? Like MJ said check in not Disney staff, but we found it fine.
Clientele? Well, you may have more folks from NYC area. And I have to say we are pretty great passengers.

We were on the 10/15 sailing out of NY last year and enjoyed it. The WDW day was very well run and really felt like a special bonus in the middle of a cruise where we are usually beach-focused. The weather leaving NY was pleasant - not pool weather, but sunny and comfortable being outside without a jacket. Our disembarkation day was rainy and cold, though. Thats typical of October in the Northeast - you never know!

I agree with previous comments about the terminal. It was a much crazier check in experience than out of Port Canveral. I dont remember anyone being unfriendly, just a more crowded and chaotic atmosphere.

Our one disappointment was actually the ship itself. Magic is the only ship doing these unique itineraries right now and we like the Fantasy and Dream a lot more than the Magic.

That being said.... it didn't stop us from booking the 8-day sailing out of NY for this fall when it went on discount (and Marvel Day at Sea is a nice bonus). For us, the convenience of the location and being able to drive right to port and avoid flying makes it worth it.

If you have any specific questions, let me know!

So jealous. I guess my only hope for being able to afford a Tgiving cruise is opening day pricing. Which means sadly 2019 for us. At least we'll be gold when the pricing comes out (if they're even still doing the NYC to WDW that is). :boat::smickey:

Would you say the seas are rougher out of NYC than PC?
I thought so. Granted the Magic is smaller and older than the Dream, but one night the ship was rocking and creaking so bad it woke me up from a sound sleep.
