Do you pre cook or just driop em in? What do you put in yours?

I add eggs, bread crumbs, garlic, cheese, salt, pepper and a dash of sugar. I do not pre cook I just drop.

I drop my deer and moose balls right in the sauce too....and my meatballs are basically the same as yours....I made some and we are having meatballs subs tonight and then put them away for spaghetti and meatballs at a future date.....DELICIOUS

I use to just drop my meatballs, but now I prefer to cook them first..... I like to add eggs, breadcrumbs, and seasonings.

I think when you precook them, they don't shrink as much.......

I buy the frozen bag at Sams. The boys love them. Too bad I'm out now.

geez, I'm a bad girl - that thread just had me :lmao:

Well, if you're wondering about THOSE meatballs, mine are easy to make. Just a pound of hamburger, 2 eggs, a cup of italian breadcrumbs and 2 tablespoons of horseradish - then bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes. then I put it in the sauce - they are too mushy to me if you just sauce them. ooh, that didn't sound too good either! :rotfl:

Shrinking meatballs...

Anyway, I used to prebake now I drop, unless I am making meatballs at a different time than I am making the sauce.

And I basically make them the same way, except I use ground turkey breast.

deer balls, moose balls, turkey balls :confused3 What is wrong with you people, my nana would turn in her grave hearing this talk. :teeth: Whatever happened to good old fashioned meatballs?

deer and moose meat is very very lean ....I do add some beef to it too.....but if I cook my meatballs all day in the sauce .....they are not mushy at all....I like a sauce that simmers for six or so hours......YUMMY :thumbsup2

I use meatloaf mix (beef pork and veal), one egg, italian breadcrumbs, about 1/4 cup dry red wine, dried italian seasoning, basil oregano and parsley, salt and pepper, minced onion and minced garlic cloves. A trick is put them in the microwave for 2 minutes per side prior to dropping in the tomato sauce (also homemade). I don't have any shrinking or falling apart problems. I cook them in the sauce for at least 2 hours. yummmmmmmy

Ok, this is going to sound very strange, but it is delicious and easy :woohoo: --try it, you'll see....

I use the meatballs from Sam's:

16 Oz. Chili Sauce
12 Oz. Jellied Cranberry Sauce
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 Tbsp. lemon juice

Slow cooker.

I must be getting tired and punchy because your title just cracked me up.

I make my meatballs with 3/4 lb very lean hamburger, 1/4 lb ground turkey, 1 egg, 1/2 cup 5-min oatmeal (raw), pepper, onion powder, garlic, 1/4 cup italian bread crumbs, and 1/4 cup spaghetti sauce. I brown them in a frying pan and then add to my sauce. I've never tried dropping them raw into simmering sauce but I know others who swear by that method.

PS: I love the beagle pic in your signature. My Missy could be your beagle's twin!

Hi Mootoo! :wave2:

Ground Round
Italian Flavored Breadcrumbs
Parmesan cheese
Egg,
dash milk
salt, pepper, garlic powder
chopped parsley
chopped onion
squirt of ketchup
(I hope I didn't forget anything)
mix all together

form golf ball size meatballs & bake for about 20 mins at 350 degrees, turning them a couple times.

then drop in sauce....& simmer a few hours.

Voila! :dance3:

BTW, I bought a package of the Italian Meatballs from Sam's Club & made them once in the sauce....we all thought they were gross. I would have eaten them until they were gone but my family won't touch them again. My DH said to me "I can't believe you bought those!" So now I have more than half a bag left & don't know what to do with them! :confused3

I alos love the beagle in your pic. We are thinking of getting one. Care to PM me the pros and cons of having one? (sorry this is OT, but you really do need to try the meatball recipe I gave earlier--yum!!!!!!!!!)

My mom uses chop meat, salt , pepper, grated parmesean , parsley, but instead of breadcrumbs she takes a loaf of italian bread, soaks it in water, peals the crust and uses the inside of the bread and mixes it all up. She then fries them and then puts them in the sauce.

I am not a big fan of ball O' meat but when I do make them I use a frozen bag from sams, add 1 cup chile sauce and 1 cup grape jelly. Pour all in a crock pot. I make these for gatherings and such and I always give out the recipe a dozen times, people love em.
