Tell me about your Fiesta ware

Hi all! Right now I use plates that are made of melamine. I love them as they are very light. I used to have Pflatzgraff before that but found those to be very heavy. Is the Fiesta as heavy as Pfalzgraff? I was thinking of ordering 4 sets in different colors...or do most stay with one color? I'm also concerned with scratching...I have a glass covered table and if the dishes are 'finished' on the bottom if it will scratch the table. So, tell me about your Fiesta - what color is your favorite? Do you mix and match? What pieces (in addition) to a full place setting, should I get? Kohl's is having a great sale on them right now and I might take advantage! Thanks!
 
I love my fiesta! I don't think it is as heavy as Pfalzgraff, but it's been some time since I had Pfalzgraff. I don't know about the bottoms scratching your glass table. The rim on the bottom is not smooth.

I have service for 8 in white and many serving pieces in white as well. I also have one place setting in every color and some serving pieces that are colorful too. I buy the place settings with the cup and saucer and then I do buy a coffee mug to match as well. I love that I can use plain white to look a bit more formal or mix it up with fun, funky colors.

I love that I can replace pieces as needed. In fact I am going out today to pick up a marigold place setting and need to pick up a white cereal bowl since I did have one crack recently. I love the cereal bowl, but they are a bit awkward in the dishwasher.

I love the pitcher and carafe, but I use them more for display. I use the serving bowls quite a bit too. I love my fiesta tea pot too! It's so cute.
 
I love my Fiestaware! It is very heavy. It's been a while since I had Pflatzgraf but if weight is important to you then go to a store and pick up some of the Fiesta as it is very heavy. I've had a glass topped dining table for about a year and have not noticed any scratches.

I have 4 colors. I started out with 12 place settings in 6 colors but after living with that for a while, I have bought replacements and serving pieces in only 4 of the colors.

My family has been given strict instructions about which two colors they can break since they are being phased out.;)
 
I love our Fiesta dishes! Right now, we are using three colors: peacock, paprika, and lemongrass. We have some older pieces that we got when we first got married, and they still look new.

Like you said, Kohl's is having a great sale on them! I also have an extra 30% off code, so I'm thinking about adding some of the casserole dishes. We've found that the platters have also been useful over the years.
 

Thanks everyone! I decided to go for it. I bought four 5-piece place settings for a total of $51.68 !!! That comes to $12.08 a place setting !!

I absolutely love my Fiestaware! I have it in the plum color... my mom has hers in 4 different colors though, as does my grandma (who has the classic pieces from when they first came out).

I'll agree with everyone else & say that they're very heavy.

Not sure where you live, but the Fiesta factory is up in the tip of W.Va and they have a store there where you can get seconds (as well as normal quality pieces). I'm in NE Ohio and it's only about 1.5 - 2 hours to get down there. I've gotten a lot of pieces for a really good price that way.
 
I have all sorts of colors and pieces. It all started with place settings from Kohl's and then added odd pieces as the price was right. So, I have the large coffee cup, fruit bowls and gusto bowls. I'm proud it is made in the USA.
 
My favorite pieces are their big serving bowls... I love, love, love that you can put them in the oven!
 
I don't know anything about Pfaltzgraff, but I do love my Fiesta!

I've been collecting for years and have more pieces that I could even guess, some dating back to the 1930s (which I just use for display). I know I have at least dinner for 8 in turquoise and white, and then a selection of other colors mixed in. I keep one of each of the colors I like in my kitchen cabinets and store the rest in the basement. If I'm having a party, I'll pull out colors to match the theme.

I find that it is very durable. Its a rarity that a piece breaks, and I'm not sure if I've ever chipped one. Its all or nothing :)

My favorite colors are turquoise, chartreuse and the old, original red (normal people would call it orange)

I received place settings for my wedding and have purchased the rest second hand. I'm not sure I would go out of my way to buy the place settings. I never use the mugs, and the cake plates are a dime-a-dozen at thrift stores (I won't even buy them for a dime anymore, I have too many!), I'd just buy a bunch of bowls and plates, and the big serving bowls.
 
I love my Fiestaware. I have 8 place settings plus platters, sugar and creamer, gravy boat, serving dishes in the most delightful shade of pink. I have a HUGE yellow platter, too, that I picked up somewhere along the way and am thinking of trying to add a few more yellow pieces. :wizard:

Have Pfzalzgraff plain brown set--very rustic looking and was discontinued very quickly. The bottoms of the plates scratch the tops of the plate it sits on so stacking isn't a good idea. I need to sell these in a garage sale:goodvibes
 
I have more than a dozen sets in many colors. I will choose plates for dinner based on the color of the food. Such as fish, rice will always go on a red or yellow plate, not the white ones!

I also have many serving pieces and I am still collecting. It's so easy to buy and fill your kitchen with.

LOL, I do the same thing! Corn can never go in the yellow bowl, only the blue one :lmao:

I think I have 16 place settings; a few colors are duplicated. I also have a bunch of old pieces to mix in with the new and a few multi-colored and patterned bowls to break it all up. I LOVE my Fiestaware, it's like an addiction, lol
