My DH and youngest DD are dyslexic. DH is severly affected. He will switch his words when speaking. He will sign papers on the wrong side. He will write in the wrong order. Growing up in the 70's there weren't many services but after the 1st grade he was granted verbal tests and did much better. He has been with the DoD for 20 years and has a very hands on technical job with F-15's and excells at it.
DD is less affected but has problems with apraxia also. She is more affected by her speech and writing. Reading and spelling she seems to compensate for. She is a freshman in high school. She is in honors math but has general ed for the rest of her classes. Her standardized scores are in the toilet but her GPA is a 4.0. So her test taking ability (sitting for more than an hour) seems to be affected. SAT's should be fun. NOT.
Look for other areas that might be showing.
