I am seriously looking into doing this (not the Keratin) treatment for my hair. For those of you who have had it done, do you love it? Would you do it again? How long has it lasted for you and what type of hair do you have? Most importantly do you feel it was worth the $$ (what do you consider a good price for this service)? Thanks everyone!!! This might be a Christmas present to myself;)

Speaking as a hairstylist, Brazilian Blowout does work. It's amazing. Depending on how you take care of your hair, it can last up to 6 months. It may seem pricy (especially if you're buying their products) but everyone who comes in and has had it done, has returned to have it done again (and again). We have clients to follow the 'rules' and it lasts 6-7 months and a client who didn't want to use the products and it was out in 3 months.

Only I don't know what the types you are getting on labelled as 'Brazilian' blowout because just on a warning note: keep really far from those if there's more than .5% formaldehyde in its formula because it'll damage your hair and misused it can really make all your hair fall out :scared1:
And it stank... Not nice, hun?
I've done one of the 'lighter' versions and it lasted 10 weeks more or less and I really wash my hair on a daily basis and I do not blow-dry it and use a straightening iron. My hair is not treally curly but I liked the effect but I am not doing again, frizz and curls don't bother me that much. :rotfl:
I guess I surpassed the sleek, straight hair trend and simply accept my hair is the way it is.

I've had the brazilian blowout brand three times and loved it.

Unfortunately, both stylists (my first treatment was in NYC and second and third in FL) stopped offering this service because of the OSHA warnings against it. So, I've been getting the Keratin Complex instead (the express treatment, actually) and while it works well, nothing works as well as my beloved brazilian blowout. I would definitely recommend it.

I've had it twice and I love it! My first time lasted all the way through the very humid summer months. I just got it re-done, and I can;t believe how shiny and smooth my hair is! I paid $150 in NYC, but the first time was a Groupon and the second was a 'buy back' special. My hair was moderately curly but very frizzy. Mine lasted about 5 months. the only down side is that you have to avoid the ocean due to the salt water, and i live at the beach! Made it very hard during those hot summer days...

My 18 year old daughter had it done at the beginning of November and I paid for it. With products it was $300. She has very thick hair that is curly and frizzy. When she gets it cut, the straightening used to take 45 minutes. With the blowout it takes 5 minutes.

I will gladly pay for her to continue having it done. It has been such an incredible difference. Before her hair would frizz within a couple of hours of having it straightened. Now, she goes into the rain and no frizz.

She was told it would last between 3-6 months depending on how much she shampooed and went in water. The only bad thing is her regular hair salon doesn't do the blow out so she goes to one salon for the blowout and another for her cut.

Another downside is she had small section next to her face bleached and colored purple. With the blowout they dont' recommend coloring because it will strip the chemicals used in the blowout off the hair.

Thanks for all the replies everyone ! I really would like to get this done but I do color my hair. I didn't think affected it though.

I get this done and my hair is colored. I get highlights and all over color the same time as the blowout. Then roots touched up in between. My blowout lasts about 4-5 months.

OP, in my salon they color and do Brazilian blowout the same day. I no longer color my hair but I do get the Brazilian blowout. I pay $100 each time. No groupon, specials. It's my salons standard rate. I like it ok. I am pretty frizzy hair normally and it helps. I do use the genuine products (shampoo, etc) but my stylist told me it was not necessary. She says any sulfate free shampoo.

It only lasts me around 10 weeks and I do not wash my hair daily. After this one wears out I probably won't get another until late spring.

I don't remember the exact name of the treatment I had done...it was not the one that is now banned in several states because of the formaldehyde though!

I paid $300 and it took 3 hours. Lots of combing product in, rinsing, flat ironing every single piece and repeating a few times.

I consider myself to have wavy and frizzy hair especially in the hot humid weather. I had this done in May 2011 and as of right now it still looks great! Right up around my face is where I have to flat iron some but everywhere else is still straight and NO FRIZZ.

I would get this done again in a heartbeat! Lasted me all through our hot summer!
