Tell Me About Yak & Yeti

We have eaten at Y&Y on our last three trips, and plan to eat there again. I always get the steak and shrimp, it is so good I can't help ordering it every time, even though I'd like to try new things too! My daughter had the crispy mahi mahi and wolfed it down, and my husband has enjoyed the steak and shrimp, honey chicken, and beef&broccoli. You can't go wrong with the wontons for dessert!

We had great service at Y&Y and enjoyed the food and drinks! I think you should try it....we think you'll like it

We ate at Y&Y in September. The portions were HUUUGE. The decor is really cool - full of real Asian knick-knacks, portraits, books, etc. The food was good, not great, but one of the better in-park food we had that week on the DxDP. DH enjoyed ribs, I enjoyed the salmon.

Two criticisms: 1) food was a little heavy. Lots of fried choices, especially in the apps. By the time the famous wontons rolled around I could not sample them, I was so full (kids and DH did them justice, though). 2) Our server was nice, but also was clearly trying to get a large tip. For example, he brought the kids adult-sized drinks and brought us a hand-written itemized bill, so we would see how much the total was, since tip is not included (and I think he spelled it out like that). Would we return? Probably, if I were looking for a lunch or dinner place at AK, but probably not in the next couple of trips.

this is one place I was looking at for our upcoming trip but need to ask...I don't have a very adventerous family when it comes to food...and my youngest has Down Syndrome and lives on chicken/fries/pizza

Is the food acceptable for the unadventerous?? Me, I am all about trying something new:laughing:

Haven't been there yet, but my 4 year old is pretty unadventurous. She does love fried rice, but I saw that there are chicken nuggets on the kids menu. Fries aren't listed on the kids menu, but they'd probably give them to you if you ask.

If your DS orders from the adult menu, there is an adult burger and he can obviously ask for things prepared more simply than described.

Kobe Beef Burger - 10 oz grilled American Kobe beef burger, sesame-soy sauce, mayonnaise, crispy shoestring fries. topped with choice of shiitake mushroom & scallion compote or Asian slaw $17.99

The wok items are pretty non-adventurous.

Does anyone know if kids can order a cherry limeade as part of the DDP? I see it on the menu for adults but was not sure if it was an option for the kids. I'm afraid if I order one for myself and they are stuck with apple juice, I won't get a single sip before they've sucked it dry.

Thanks!

We ate at Y&Y last May and already have it booked for this year. It was wonderful. The sweet and sour mahi mahi was incredible. The atmosphere is very authentic. It is now a must do.

Yak and Yeti is great - a must do for me.

I loved the atmosphere of Y&Y and before we got our food... DS18 and I took turns just walking around the restaurant to check everything out...

We had lunch there OOP in May 2010. I DO compare it a lot to PF Changs...and the food was IMHO great but perhaps not as great as PF Changs....

Lettuce Wraps were GREAT.... I had high expectations for Tempura beans but I didn't find them to be Tempura fried... so was a bit disappointed...

DS got the beef & broccoli which was YUMMY !!! I also had the seared ahi tuna appy which was YUMMY !

I will be back to Y&Y.

Somehow during same trip we landed a 'day of' ressie to 50's Prime time... I had been told to try the Pot Roast and OMG... that was the most surprisingly yummy meal of the whole trip ! I happened to be a bit disappointed with lack of antics but perhaps the server saw "Mom with 18yr old son" and thought we didn't care?

I would return to both places... and hopefully very soon !

Have a great trip !
Mary

For yak and yeti, can you only go there when Animal Kingdom is open?

Also, I have a gift card for rainforest cafe that is good at other landry's restaurants. Do you know if I can use it at Yak and Yeti's?

Thanks for your help.
