SORRY, couldn't resist!! Please forgive my bad joke. It's Whispering 'Canyon' Cafe. They call it 'whispering' as a joke because it's a loud, boisterous place...kids' pony races, servers yelling out funny things about their patrons, and a lot of 'yee-haws' yelled collectively by everyone in the restaurant. Like all Disney food...some love it, some hate it. You can order a family-style skillet or a la carte entrees.

This will be a fun way to start your vacation!

you are just waaaay too funny!!!! Maybe you should be on WCC's waitstaff. I also agree, a fun way to start vaca. We loved it, even old stick-in-the-mud DH!

We thought it was a great time. It's a rowdy restaurant but you don't have to play along if you don't want to. There are activities that take place throughout the meal - like kids riding wooden ponies around the dining room. I helped out with this activity and they gave me a FP to the bathroom. It was fun. I kind of think of it as an 'Ohana with a Western theme.

The food was pretty good. Just about everyone at the table ordered the skillet because it was a little bit of everything and they keep it coming. That was nice. If you want a LARGE drink they'll give it to you in something that looks like a half gallon mason jar. Funny for most people but I was able to suck it down and ask for a refill.

We ended up there at 4 p.m. because that is when they opened and we couldn't get an ADR for a different time. We were told they have open seating without an ADR for that first hour so we showed up at 4 p.m. My DD got to ring the triangle and call everyone to dinner at the top of her lungs which she thought was hysterical. They seated our party of 5 without question or the ADR right after the dinner bell. This was in May of 2008 so I'm not sure if they are still doing the no ADR for the first hour thing. By the time we left a couple hours later the place was filled and people were waiting to get in.

I think it's a great place for families to kick off a vacation, enjoy company, have some hearty vittles and get off your vacation on with good humor. I say go for it.

It's a must do every trip for us. My boys (9&5) love it! Well.....so does my 44 year old boy! He loves it when they bring him a large iced tea!

If you are a quiet or shy person this restaurant probably isn't a good place for you, but if you love to have fun and enjoy the unexpected that it's great!

We like to have the skillet since there is a good variety for everyone. My favorite is the bottomless shakes! I usually start out with a caramel one and finish off with an orange creamsicle one!

Almost 5 years ago our oldest was turning 5 and my hubby 40. Our server had them do 'horse race' around the restaurant, just the two of them! Last year our 4 year old was picked to be the bell ringer for the start of dinner and two years ago on our 10th wedding anniversary they sang to us in front of the entire restaurant and made us kiss for 10 SECONDS!!!! 10 Seconds feels like an eternity when you are kissing in front of a room full of strangers!!

aww....that was half the fun.

We ate there twice and the first time it was hilarious, food was great, and the server was a whole lot of fun. The second time it was not half as good, food was just so-so, not so funny, and the server was waaaay too serious. Maybe that would have been okay had it been our first trip there but it paled in comparison to our previous experience.

Perhaps it just depends on your server as to what kind of experience you get.

We ate there for the first time on May 2nd. The food wasn't bad but the service could have been better. Our server threw straws (guess she didn't get the memo) other than that, really didn't want to interact with us. She was one of those that would stop to talk to you or check up on you, you kind of have to yell at her as she's running by. I loved the mashed potatoes with the skillet so I asked for more, it took about 20 minutes, by that time, we were done with the rest of the meal. After that, it took about 30 minutes to get dessert, she had to ask us 3 times for our dessert because she kept getting them mixed up. When we got the check, the first one was someone else's, no big deal, when we got ours, she still had the wrong desserts on it! Luckily, they're all the same price, plus I didn't want to sit there until breakfast to get it fixed!

I'm sure it was just a fluke thing, it just feels good to vent.

We'll probably try it again in December.

Try it at least once. You may mind a restaurant that your whole family loves and if not, at least you'll entertain us here on the DIS.

The good thing about 8 people in your party is that you'll have less trips to make hauling ketchup around!

WCC comments usually revolve around loving it or hating it. . .not a lot of in-between commentary. As others have noted, it's a rather boisterous restaurant which can be good for large groups. It also has an all-you-care-to-eat skillet meal wherein the server constantly refills a large platter with BBQ, beans, corn, cornbread, and other items. It's not cheap, however--I believe it's about $32 per person (you can also order a la carte). Such service is conducive to large parties, too.

That being said, I can't wholeheartedly recommend it. Many others have had great experiences and good food there, but both times I've been, both were lacking. The food tends to be greasy and fairly bland (which may not necessarily be a bad thing) and not terribly varied if you get the skillet meal. For both trips, our servers were neither fun, funny, or particularly good at their primary job--service.

However, these two experiences were mine and my party. You might have a completely different dining encounter. Just keep in mind that any restaurant can have off nights.

We're in the "hated it" bunch. Bad food, not very entertaining. Hit or miss, I guess. We were ready for a good time and good food, and received neither!

I ended up being disappointed when we ate there last year. I had read reviews about how fun and crazy the servers were. Our server was very shy. It was evident that she did not feel comfortable doing the crazy antics. She hardly even came to the table to check on us. I asked for ketchup and she left and came back with one bottle of ketchup. The server at the tables next to us was completely hilarious. Those people were having a heck of a time. I was so jealous.

I thought the BBQ skillet was really good. And my son enjoyed the wooden pony ride around the restaurant.

I will definitely give it another try because I really enjoyed the food. The potential for a whole lot of fun is there. It just really depends on your server.

It was just to loud after a fun, busy, tiring day in the park. Might have enjoyed it better if it was on a non park day. Childs Salmon was WAY better than the skillet.

It's not on my must do list but we have been there a handful of times when we stayed at the WL. I can't speak for the skillet but all of the regular menu items we had were tasty. The wait staff is pretty good at reading guests and won't force you to participate in the antics. The games were fun to watch but the screaming and banging got on my nerves after a while so now we ask to be seated in the back room where it's a little quieter.

We eat here every year on our Disney trip with the kids. Food is fare but the kids love the entertainment. I would book it, you will enjoy it.
