tell me about waterview rooms at RP

When I booked my room at the AP rate of $139, they told me I would get a free upgrade to a waterview room. I've never gotten an upgrade before, so I'm happy.
How are the waterview room? Should I request a certain area?

We liked 1740 when we were there. It had a waterview and a view of the parks.

I called to try to get the upgrade at the RP. I am gong the weekend before you. The gal I spoke with said she is not sure how you got the upgrade, when you use AP discount it does not count. However, she said the occupancy for this weekend is at 50% there is a strong chance we will be upgraded anyway.

It's a free upgrade for Passholders. At all three hotels, the price of garden/standard and water/bay/pool is the same.
