Tell me about timeshare presentations - not DVC

I had a friend who would do these. She would go in and buy it right off the bat. No questions and sign everything. Be done in like 30 minutes tops. No fighting, no pressure, nothing, Get her gift and drop the recision papers off at the post office, certified, on the way home.

Awesome! I love it! Beating them at their own game. How could they argue with "Yes"?

I'm from the Ozarks, and why anyone would buy a timeshare to the area, I have no friggin clue.

My DH and I did one in Branson (Westgate - The Woods) maybe in the Spring of 2006 or so. It was VERY low pressured. Enjoyable - really. We considered buying. Their maintenance fees are extremely low - like under $200 a year low. A friend of mine bought there (in Branson) but uses it in Florida every year. She pays a small fee to transfer (which is smarter than Florida's $800 fee) - at Westgate.

I don't know of anything THAT low in Branson (unless it's a bieniel or trieniel), but Branson does have cheap MFs and summer weeks trade VERY well.

We lost three hours of our time, and all interest in time shares. Definitely an experience that I would never care to repeat.

Don't bunch timeshare presentations and timeshares together. Timeshares can be an awesome way to vacation. Timeshare presentations can be brutal, but you don't have go to them to stay in a timeshare.

- Prime season. Those $100 deals on ebay are all for off-season. Do you really want a week at the beach every winter? And realistically, you can't trade unless you have a prime season.

Awesome, awesome post, but I will take exception with this one point. There ARE some good deals on prime season timeshares on Ebay. MOST of what's on there is garbage weeks, but not everything. I own 8 timeshares (we travel a lot), and most of them are prime weeks that I got on eBay.

i have 2 timeshares. both bought resale with no vacation time wasted on presentations.
