Tell Me about the Zeppoles at Via Napoli

What are they like? I can't imagine it. Any pictures of the inside of them would be great.

They look kind of like donut holes but are lighter. They are little puffy balls of yumminess. I love them! They come in a cone and there are at least 10. Chocolate sauce for dipping and whip cream. I saw a pic last night here someplace. I think on the dining reviews page. OMG now I am gonna crave them all night again!

I've had them at Via Napoli three times. Twice they were little hot balls of deliciousness, but once they came out cold and I sent them back. The waitress also brought out my husband's Ugly but Good Sundae completely melted that night, so I think it was her fault for not picking our desserts up in time. When she put the bowl of melted ice cream in front of him, he said, "Hey, it's melted". She looked down at it and said "Yeah, a little bit". He put his spoon all the way down into the bottom of the dish stirring it, trying to find some solid ice cream and lifted some up and told her it wasn't just a little melted, it was completely melted. By that time I had taken a bite of my first zeppole and found it completely cold. She got a little irritated that we wanted to send both desserts back for new ones. Normally they are very good though--little balls of light dough, freshly deep fried and steaming hot, like donut holes, but much better that you dip in melted chocolate and whipped cream. Ummm, sooo good! Here's a picture:

The best way, to me, to describe a zeppole is a funnel cake in a ball.

I grew up eating zeppoles at carnivals. The first time I had a funnel cake, I thought zeppole.


I recently had a beignet for the first time. My reaction was "it is like a zeppole only eggier".

Fried dough is always tasty, but needs be served hot!

OMG...they were little balls of heaven. YUM!

We were at Via Napoli in late May. We ordered our pizza and waited. And waited. And waited. I guess there was a problem or something. Our server came to the table and apologized and said our order just got placed and he was giving us each a free dessert.

Pizza was amazing (MUCH better than anything we can get at home) and then we each ordered a different dessert.

Dd got a kids sundae
Ds got the cherry icecream thing (VERY good)
Dh got the tiramissu (just ok)
and I got the Zeppoles--AWESOME!!!!!

We hardly every get dessert when eating out. Next time we go we WILL be getting dessert. I don't care if my family has to roll me out of the restaurant when we are done, but I WILL have those zeppoles again.
