I can't find too much information on "The Void" in Disney Springs. Please tell me everything you know about it. Thanks so much!!

We went last June with our 12 year old grandson. It was cool, but not as wonderful as I had expected. We thought he would be totally excited about it but after it was over he didn't really say that much. The building itself was hot, and the pack was heavy. The workers did a poor job of explaining what was what and also making sure the pack and head part were fitted correctly. Overall it was a one and one but good.

We went last night. You get fitted with vests and helmets, and then you walk through a simple set of rooms (I would say “maze” but it isn’t that complex) and watch a VR video.

****SPOILER WARNING****

You are supposedly rebels posing as Storm Troopers, and when they realize you’re intruders, they begin shooting at you (which makes your vest vibrate, like laser tag). There is a lava monster at one point, and radiators make you feel the lava’s heat. There is a button combination to press at one point, and a lever to pull.

Cast members watch you the whole time to make sure you don’t bump into anything or anyone. I kept putting up my helmet every minute or two, partly because I feel more comfortable when I know what’s going on, and partly because it was cool to see behind the scenes.

It’s fairly realistic, and just barely computerized enough that it wasn’t too scary. Nothing really jumps out at you (which I was worried about). Almost everything isn’t “real” except a bench and two droids, as well as the buttons and lever.

It was fun and I would do it again with a different storyline - I don’t think there’s much variation in the SW one to repeat, but someone correct me if I’m wrong!

We have done both the Star Wars and Wreck-It-Ralph adventures. We enjoyed the Star Wars one more. It felt more like a mission and seemed to have more of a story. Also, you might get separated from some of your group on Wreck-It-Ralph. There were 3 of us, and for a little bit, our tween son was in a separate area from us but still very visible; same room but further away. We felt the Wreck-It-Ralph story wasn't quite as clear as to what the goal was. We also enjoy Star Wars more. Wreck-It-Ralph might be better for younger kids, and it also didn't have "real" guns. SW had blasters.

We thought Secrets of the Empire was an enjoyable experience. My party was too dumb to figure out the aforementioned code. We tried repeatedly, but I think it ultimately allows you to proceed despite failing to punch in a simple combination. Secrets of the Empire works on different levels... impressive VR, shooter video game, Star Wars lore and story... etc. Good family fun, date or friend activity. Best for groups of 4.

We had a lot of fun doing the Ralph one in back in November. The Star Wars one wasn’t operating when we were there, so we’re hoping to be able to do it when we’re at Disney Springs next Sunday.

It’s cool. The VR is pretty amazing. It feels like you are doing this mission. Very immersive. But, it was very short. Maybe less than 10 minutes? We went on a Saturday night. There was a bit of a wait. And spent more time waiting than in the experience. If you have 4 people, see if you can go a weekday afternoon. I’m sure there would not be a wait.

We did the Star Wars one on 16th and we had a blast. It was me, DH, DS18, DD16 and DS’s friend. We got split up into 2 groups, me and DH and the kids stayed together. We all thought it was definitely worth it and would do it again. The technology is still a little glitchy, there was a little lag with the graphics but not enough to ruin it by any means. All I kept thinking was that if Galaxies Edge is anywhere close to this experience my mind will be blown. The feeling of getting shot by a blaster was really cool as was shooting storm troopers. It looked so real, can’t wait to do it again.

We did the Wreck it Ralph for my birthday in March. It was so fun! We had no idea what to expect so that really helped with the magic. I would for sure do it again.

We are two adults (40+ and 50+). We enjoyed the experience but wished we had more time to explore. It isn't cheap, and the 'looking around at all the cool stuff' sections seemed short compared to the 'shoot and run' sections. I'd go again to just stare at things and walk around. That said, it might not be as cool to a 4 year old who wants to see immediate results when they touch things. For example, in the button sequence, we were sure we got it right a few times only to have to try again. It felt like I was able to put my hand through virtual things rather then interacting with them. Still, the smells, wind, etc. were amazing. I'd go again for sure.

I am kind of surprised that this hasn't been getting non-stop rave reviews. We thought it was amazing. We did the SW one, and are excited to try Wreck it Ralph.

Hijacking the thread for a random question:

Can Disney Gift Cards be used at The Void?

We all loved it. DS and I did it twice, the second time with friends. It was more fun the first time and we wouldn't do it a third time. But the first experience was worth every penny!

(We did Star Wars, about 11:30 am both times ... no line).

They have a flexible cancellation policy, too.
