Tell me about the Regatta

DH and I did this when we honeymooned on RCCL. Totally loved that we were on Stars and Stripes and actually got a job to do to participate. Those things can go fast when the conditions are right and the competition part of it is fun. But - be warned - I just about lost it from seasickness. Guess my sea legs hadn't come in like I thought they had!

We have done it in Nassau and on the Eastern Caribbean cruise, and we LOVED IT both times!!! Of course, we lucked out and ended up on the winning boat both times too.
The boats are a little different in Nassau, even tho' it is run by the same company, but they are all former racing boats. You get wetter at the other one, which I actually prefer. It was such an amazing feeling! And the competitive spirits really flare...all in all, this is an awesome excursion. Beverages on the boat are included, and they also stop at a souvenir shop so you can buy a photo (which they take while you are racing), t-shirt, or whatever.

Thank you all for the information.
Our 3-year-old will be with us, Can we watch Daddy, or do we need to find something else to do?

bumping this up, as I am wondering that too Kristaia, so hope someone can answer.

Also what time of day does it start? and how long does it take?, dh would love this, and I would like to get it on video for him. Do all the excursions start around the same time?, as I may do the 'see & sea' with ds3.

Hey Kristaia:

The short answer to the question is that you and your little one won't really be able to see much of Dad except in the wee distance and you should probably find something else to do.

If you are thinking of the excursion in St. Maartens, the tenders bring everyone out to the boats that are anchored in the middle of the harbour and they then move out farther away from shore for the big race. Except with binoculars, you unfortunately would not see much of Daddy except some sails whizzing past in the distance.

It really is a blast and your husband (and/or you) should consider going. I, and my oldest daughter, went on the Regatta last year and we loved it. We were disappointed that my wife and youngest daughter, aged 11 could not go so that we could make it a family event, but the age limit of 12 is enforced. They went shopping
