Or, Indecision Is Fun. :rotfl:

Our plans up to this point have included my MIL for this trip, but it is looking more and more like she won't be able to join us this year due to a job change. So DH asked me to look at options for just the 4 of us, and as we all know, that 5th person changes a lot when talking Disney resort options. Unfortunately, because we're going during F&W, we can't get my first or second choices (BC/YC or BW) and I'm left looking at the non-Epcot area deluxes.

So tell me about the Poly, please. Which buildings are best? Which are smoking (DH smokes, so we actually want a smoking building)? How's the pool & slide?

We stayed at teh Poly for the first time in January 2007, and we LOVED IT!!! We spent alot of time by the pool. The slide is so scary though! I was scared out of my mind, but DH made me go down, then DB pushed me down..... If you love slides, you will definately love it!

KadysMom,

Try this wedsite (www.tikiman2001.homestead.com). It would take all day to tell you how much I love the Polynesian and Tikiman is considered by many to be expert #1, and his website is fantastic. Everything you need to know is there and more. When you stay at the Polynesian, be prepared to be ruined for life! Have a great adventure - Marty :rockband:

It is a beautiful resort, lots of fun stuff to do...like the pools, speedboats, crafts for the kids, walking paths...it is close to the TTC and has a monorail station. We stayed there last May and loved it so much, we are going back in 2 weeks!!!:thumbsup2

The Poly is awesome---you can't go wrong by staying there !:thumbsup2
As another poster stated, check out tikiman's website. He has a wealth of info. in regards to choosing a longhouse.

We stayed at the Poly the first time in Feb. And loved it!
Even tho we didn't swim, we had a wonderful view of the Volcano pool in Samoa. That's the longhouse I'd recommend, tho obviously I've not stayed in any others.
The view was to die for!
We liked Kona Cafe and had the Tonga toast everyone talks about at Captain Cooks.
It was fun watching the Elec. Water Pageant on the beach, and also seeing the MK fireworks there.
Plus, it's a nice little walk over to GF to visit the spa or have a meal there. Of course, being on the monorail line is GREAT!!!

Well if you do a 5th person the Polynesian room can handle that. The day bed is big enough for me to sleep on (I am 6 foot) and is actually very comfortable. If you want smoking than I suggest requesting Niue when you make the reservation. It is footsteps from the GCH (lobby) and next to both pools. Don’t worry about not getting an Epcot resort. I love Epcot and I actually prefer getting to Epcot by monorail ride instead of walking from the Yacht Club. You can be in Epcot from your room at the Polynesian in 15 minutes.

If you do not get Niue than the only other smoking rooms are in the 3rd floor of Tuvalu, part of the second floor of Tahiti and than a few concierge rooms.

The pool is fun and right on the beach to look over at the castle with plenty of seating around the pool and on the beach. The Barefoot bar is built into the volcano that has the water slide and they have started having waitresses going around the pool to take orders. The slide is my favorite of all slides that are not in water parks. I even liked it much better than the slide at SAB.

Aloha

Steve

Aloha Tikiman,
Have not seen a post from you for a while! I would kill to go to Tikifest with you guys but my wife can't go at that time and my flying solo to the Poly is OUT! Going in June though - I still owe you a MaiTai!

Aloha Tikiman! Good to hear from you again, missed you!:cheer2:

We stayed at the Polynesian in January and the kids loved it so much we are heading back in July. Unfortunately we're at the Polynesian July 5-12 so we miss the Tikifest! We had been there last July and weren't really happy with that stay. I just want to say that there seems to have been a huge improvement with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff since then.

We loved swimming in the pools at night and being able to see the castle and watch the fireworks from the beach. We had a MK view but on the nights we were swimming the kids liked watching them from the beach as much as watching them from our balcony. THe kids fight over who gets to sleep on the day bed and don't forget to get a self serve Dole Whip from Captain Cooks. That was definitely a high point for me. Have a wonderful trip.

Even if you mother in law comes the rooms are plenty big for a family of 5.
