Who has eaten at the Plaza Restaurant on Main Street? How was the food, seating etc.? Would you recommend? Thanks for your help!

I think the best thing about The Plaza is you have a view of the Magic Kingdom if you're sitting on a good end of the restaurant :lovestruc The Plaza has good food, I've eaten there over 5 times in 15 trips to WDW and the atmosphere is pleasant, nothing really grand but I enjoy it.

I have to say it would be my last choice of a MK restaurant though; it's less "exciting" than the rest  But the prices are good if you're not on the Dining Plan, and the ice cream? ;) That's REALLY good.

The food was fine, nothing special. It was a nice small meal. We had sandwiches & of course yummy desserts! The best part of eating at Plaza was we made our dinner ADR a little b4 Wishes started, so we could watch Wishes during dinner. Then after Wishes, we ate our desserts. This was nice b/c we didn't have to fight crowds or wait at a spot on Main St b4hand.
Negatives: slow service & our waitress (though very friendly) complained about her long day. I know they work hard, but it's awkward when she sits at your table & talks to you about how tired she is.

The food is very good here . They have many sandwich and salad choices. The restaurant is very small so either make an ADR ahead of time or first thing in the morning when you enter the park.

I love the Plaza! Its really different from everywhere else on property, but that makes it a refreshing change. The food they serve there is light and very tasty. I love the potato salad and the tuna salad sandwich in a croissant is a nice take on an old favourite of mine. The brownie sundae is delicious, we shared it between two people and were very satisfied with our meal. The staff were very nice, if a little over stretched at the busiest times, but our waitress was very accommodating as my Dbf doesn't like mayo or cheese so he had a chicken salad croissant and fries, (although he did ask for the potato salad, but we just shared my potato salad and his fries together and he didn't mind.) The restaurant space is much bigger when you actually get inside and all the mirrors and windows make it very light and airy. The staff at the podium outside are a little rude sometimes, but don't be put off by them, the ones inside are much nicer.

It is so amazing to read opinions on restaurants. I see that the previous posters thought the food here was good. I on the other hand found it to be somewhat mediocre and it was so crowded in there, basically sitting on top of the people next to you. The server we had was obviously harried and it reflected in her service, I have never been back nor could I recommend this restaurant. JMO

We have eaten here in the past and thought it was pretty good. The lunch menu seemed limited in what they offered though. There is also not much seating and they try to pack everyone in.

We've eaten there once. The food was good, the service was acceptable. It's convenient and from some tables you look out and see the hustle and bustle of the MK. It's less expensive than the other table service restaurants in MK, but to me seems like CS food you don't need to wait in line for. Having been there once, I doubt we'll eat there again. There was nothing wrong with it, it was just that to me there was nothing special about it.

I ate there in 2006 (late lunch).
The lady at the podium was extremely rude, the wait staff inside was a little friendlier.
Food was pretty good.
What I liked most about the restaurant was the decor! It's so pretty!

The service time can be slow, but I have always had attentive servers. (read kitchen is slow, but my ice tea never went empty). The menu is somewhat limited, but I have never had a bad meal there. The Rueben is always good, as is the vegie sandwich.

The Plaza has become a must do for us and we have gone the last three years. We like a "simple" meal on our trip after all the heavy eating we do at the other sit down restaurants and besides Crystal Palace, not much to offer at the Magic Kingdom in the way of sit down meals in our opinion. It is a small restaurant, reminds me of an ice cream parlor with the decor. We have had the burgers and the reubens and the grilled chicken. They also have club sandwiches, salads, etc. My DH loves the Chocolate Shakes and the desserts are heavenly.

We ate there yesterday. Like someone mentioned before, the lunch menu is a bit limited but the food was good. The portions are large. Out of our group of four, I don't think anyone finished their meal. We had the cheesesteak sandwhich, cheeseburger with swiss and mushrooms, rueben, a vegatarian sandwhich, a banana split, and an ice cream sundae. Everyone seemed to like what they got.

As for the service, it did seem a bit slow but that was alright for us since we really needed a break. The resturant wasn't busy at the time so we weren't crammed in like others had posted.

In all it was a pleasant experience.:)

I would like to join in and say that The Plaza is also a "must do" for us. I have been to WDW so many times over the years and never even knew this restaurant existed until three years ago. We have eaten there on all of our trips since then. I am a huge fan of the vegetarian sandwich. I also love the sweet potato chips. It is also one of the restaurants where I always have dessert - usually an ice cream sundae.

It is an avg sandwich shop. I have never been dissapointed there, but my expecations are never that high either. If you like the menu you should be fine.

We ate there in April and while most of the food was pretty good, do not get the tomato soup! I'm not sure if something went bad or what but my DD normally loves tomato soup and we had to send it back and get her a salad. I tasted it and it tasted like something had spoiled. :scared:

Anyway, I'm not sure if that was a fluke or if that is indeed the actual taste. Either way I wouldn't recommend risking it. LOL
