Just starting to plan our trip. :) We'll have our 3 year old, 4 year old, and 6 year old.

Can somebody tell me a bit about the shows? Most popular/favorites and where they're located?

Thanks!

You can read about them here:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneyland/disneyland-theme-parks.htm

This is accessed from the menu bar at the top called DL Theme Parks.

One appropriate for 3-6 year olds:

o World of Color (if you go after June 11 when it debuts)
o Fantasmic (depends on the child - may be too intense)
o Fireworks (depends on the child - may be too intense)
o Pixar Play Parade
o Celebrate Street Parade

Dats is?? We'll be there in May. Not really interested in the fireworks since they'll probably be asleep. So just two parades?

I thought I read something about a Jasmine show and a show that Tiana does. No?

I forgot to mention Aladdin at DCA. Do see that.

If you look at the link I gave they do mention a Tiana show. I think the Jasmine show might be at The Oasis in Adventureland at DL and if memory serves that is closed right now. :)

They aren't doing the Tiana show that went through NOS and then onto the Riverboat anymore, if there's another one elsewhere then I'm unaware of that. And I think Hydroguy is right, the show at the Oasis is not running either. They just do Aladdin and Jasmine meet and greets there right now. Other then Aladdin at DCA and the two parades which are both ho-hum imho, that's it. DL doesn't have the shows like they do out in WDW.

I was afraid that the parades were going to be ho-hum. I was really disappointed to find out they had changed parades in DL. I knew I wouldn't care for the one in DCA, but thought about seeing the DL one. Is it more like the Move it Shake it parade at the World??? What can anyone tell us about it? Is it even worth seeing since we have limited time to start with?

We have been twice with our daughters (they were ages 4.5 & 2 and 5.5 & 3) and they LOVED the Pixar Play Parade. I think the music is catchy and if your kids like pixar movies they will enjoy seeing the characters. Personally we were very disappointed with the Celebrate Street Party but the girls got a kick out of being included in the conga line dance during the parade. IMO, it can't beat our first Main Street parade we saw in 2008 that had the floats of the Disney characters -- we sadly missed it in 2009. There is also talk that the Princess Fantasy Faire will be reopening it's shows sometime soon so if you have little girls they might enjoy the storytime or coronation ceremony. The Aladdin show at DCA is a MUST see (just like HydroGuy said). It will be ending this summer so you should see it. I think there is another show based on Brother Bear but we don't know the movie so we have never seen it.

have you checked the DLR calendar? Click on the days that you will be there and you can see what entertainment is available that day. some shows are only offered on certain days, so be sure to check each day of your trip. I was looking at some days for our trip, and we are very excited about the 80z All Stars band.

Oh, I hadn't found that yet. Excellent! Thank you.

Just wanted to add that we love the Pixar play parade too... it is a must see for us!! We'll miss seeing Aladdin on this trip, which is a bummer... it was/is an amazing show!

What about Playhouse Disney?? We haven't gone, but whenever we walk by there seems to be a line for it...

Is the Pixar Play Parade like the Block Party Bash in DHS?

Tiana is still doing a show, but now it's called Princess Tiana's Mardi Gras Celebration. It's not as extravagant as the Showboat Jubilee, but it's a nice condensed version w/ Tiana, some dancers, & the Jambalaya Jazz Band.

Play Parade & Block Party are very different. Block Party is kinda like C!ASP because there are parade stops. The Play Parade just goes on by & has water & bubbles squirting out to the guests. It's a very fun parade! :thumbsup2

It could be, it has a lot of the same elements. But the Block Party Bash has the stops with the dances and such. I don't know for sure but in DCA they have a tight parade route because of construction walls around the lagoon area. I though it was funny to see the characters on the floats waving to nobody. I've not heard any indication of this but I think as the walls come down this summer that it has the potential to change into one and the same.

Regarding the Aladdin show in DCA. I've heard that it's great. Sadly I didn't see it last time I was there and it's going away after this summer. Since your kids are young you may need to let them see the movie a couple times so they are familiar with the characters.

Hi there - Newbie here, planning our visit for 2011 but in the meantime hope the OP doesn't mind me threadjacking - I had a query about the priority seating for Fantasmic.

Just looked on the link that Hydroguy gave above, and saw pics of the area - does anyone know approximately how many seats they sell, and also would there be people standing below you that might block the view - would be there with a 5 year old shortie!

It seems kind of expensive for what it is - but on the other hand, we're coming a long way so maybe it's worth it...

Thanks!

I have never done the Fantasmic dessert but am strongly considering it this summer. I believe they sell 50-60 seats. They are in high demand which means you must sign up for them right away one month in advance. The seats are right on the water and no one is in front of you. It is expensive and in the past I never thought it was worth the money. But now I want to try it. If you get there early enough there are many free spots to sit near the water's edge where small children can have a great view.

The Unofficial Guide raves about Billy Hill and the Hillbillies over a the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon. We are definitely going to give that a try. The mix fiddlin' and comedy I hear.

At DL it is called the Golden Horseshoe Saloon. :)

We had high hopes for BH&H and were a bit disappointed. Some people do rave about it. Some do not...

I like the Billy Hilly Show. :thumbsup2

It's also a nice place to take a break in the middle of the day. I like the air conditioning in the GH. You can buy food and drinks inside the GH (menu), and you can take food into the GH (drinks, snacks, Rancho del Zocalo, etc).

With all that said, I think the Unofficial Guide raises the expectations a bit too high.

Here's my 2 cents. :goodvibes

Playhouse Disney - Live On Stage (link) is a fun show for youngsters.
(It's in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot in DCA.)

Turtle Talk With Crush (link) is an animated show where some children can talk to Crush. I think it's a must-see.
(It's in the Animation Building in DCA.)

Muppet*Vision 3D (link) is a fun show for youngsters.
(It's in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot in DCA.)

It's Tough To Be A Bug (link) is a 3D show in "a bug's land."
It might be too intense for youngsters.

I think the Pixar Play Parade is a must-see.

Main Street Cinema (link) has 6 classic cartoons playing all the time.
It's an anytime-attraction that's worth a look.

Hope this helps. :earsboy:
