I really like the sound of this restaurant and reckon my kids would get a real kick out of seeing the fishtank while they ate. I know it's a fairly high end establishment, but I would like to give it a try (my kids ate with me at Citrico's and the Brown Derby and were fine).

Any recent experiences.

we went for lunch on 12/31/99! We were looking forward to it, but were disappointed. Seemed a little run-down, was a bit dark (probably for the fishes sake) and above all, the food was mediocre at best (and not that cheap). One of the few places at WDW I've ever regretted eating at.

But who knows, it could have been a bad day for me, the chef, the cleaning crew or whatever. Bottom line is, your kids WILL enjoy is because of the fish!

Good luck,
Gregg

Hmmm..... the Sehlinger guide gives it a similar review, which worries me. I was kinda hoping they were out of date on it, and that it had improved. I really don't want to waste a meal (and mucho $$$$) in a mediocre restaurant.

Wonder if it's possible to go early afternoon just for dessert and coffee?

Same here. We think the food is just ok - the same as you'd get at Red Lobster. But the prices are much higher.

I would take the kids through the Living Seas Pavilion to enjoy the fish, then go eat someplace good! :)

We went on May 6th and had a great meal! Probably our best sit-down meal of our whole trip. Our kids DS4 and DD1 had a good time too. The atmosphere was really cool and there were divers in the aquarium so it was neat to see them swimming with the fish and waving at us. They have a drink for the kids called the Blue Whale which is 7 up with blueberry flavoring, and it comes with an electric ice cube that glows blue. Too cool. DH had the lobster soup and surf and turf. I had a spinach salad w/scallops and bacon, and the mahi mahi. Waiter was very attentive. Service was prompt but not rushed. This was about 6 pm.

We have been there twice before, and though I tend to agree that it could have been better before, this time they really hit the mark.

We were there in August and loved it. The lobster soup was delicious and so was the pan seared shrimp. Had to force the dessert down because it was just too delicious to stop eating(The Chocolate Wave). All 3 DD's loved it and were highly entertained by the feeding of the fish. Even DH enjoyed it and he's a hard sell! I have heard both negative and positive reviews about this restaurant, but we're glad we didn't cancel our PS.

We found the atmoshere out of this world. My sister says she feels just like the Little Mermaid eaating here. It was so cool to watch the fish and we even had divers feeding the fish while wew ate. The food however was just Ok. It was fine but nothing extra. The prices were high and the servings small. Not a place to share a meal. Our service too was not the best. Our waiter was attentive but very cold and gave the impression that we were imposing on him! We are glad we tried it but it will not be a repeat for a while. Try lunch, it's a little less expensive, same great view.

We ate here April 28, and it was a great overall experience. We had an early PS (5:30), and got there 15 minutes early so we would be sure to get a tank side view. We ended up getting the last table right next to the tank. My kids loved it. The divers waved to us. It was the best service of the trip. In fact, it was the only dinner we took the time to fill out the comment card because our service was excellent. The food was good. The only thing we did not like was my entree. It was the mahi which was fine. I just did not care for the sauce. My DH really liked his snapper. The salads were very fresh, and we loved the dressings. If I were to go back, I would get the bisque, salad, and dessert. The chocolate wave is the best dessert I had all week!! My DS 4 loved his peanut butter play dough also!
