Tell me about the cookies

Ok, I've heard a lot about the chocolate chip cookies you can get on the cruise. Yet none of the posts mentions one important criteria for cookies.

Are they crunchy or soft (bend before breaking)?

I'm really curious as I would hate to order the cookies and then not eat them. I know that sounds strange, but I hope someone will let me know.

Thanks!

I actually posted about cookies once about 3 years ago...

As a choc chip cookie junkie, can only comment, that they are always, always overcooked EXCEPT for the great ones on castaway cay. When I posted on this 3 years ago, multiple disers posted agreement, and when we sailed last March, I found no different.

Please, someone tell me this is better. I did put on our survey in '06, but forgot in '08 survey...

They are deliciously hard... which for our family is PERFECT..we are not soft cookie lovers... but regardless they are yummy!!!!!

I thought the cookies were fine, a bit crunchy around the edges, but that's how I like them. The humidity may have something to do with maintaining a consistent texture.

If you go on the galley tour you will get one fresh out of the oven and while not on the gooey side, they are softer than when cooled.

The fresh baked ones they served on the Galley Tour two weeks ago were PERFECT!!!

Not too hard, not too soft!!!

LOL! After all these cruises it is the one thing that gets me to pick up a ticket to the galley tour. ;)

We were on the 1/10 cruise and became addicted to these! They were soft in the middle and never hard and crunchy - they were perfect cookies! And they are big too!
We ordered them with milk every night from room service!

We were wondering how many of these they bake daily? Anyone have any idea??

We have always loved them and found them a great texture except on our last cruise when they were definitely overcooked! And yes, fresh on the galley tour are the best.

LOVE Ch Chip cookies - after 20 cruise's I've never had a descent cookie on the ship. There always overcooked and hard. Next cruise is in April - if you say someone has had a good cookie - I'll keeping trying. But I won't hold my breath.

Since the reviews are mixed, I'll give them a try. I prefer soft cookies as I think they have more flavor than crunchy. Do they do the galley tour on the 3 day?

hmm we just got back - and both DH and I hated the cookies - we are both chocolate chip cookie junkies, and these cookies where really yucky. We tried them a few different times - and they were not crunchy they were soft - but they just didn't taste good. I was really sad about that.

No, they only have the galley tour on sea days so none on the 3 day. I won't be eating any chocolate chips for a very long time if ever since I cutting out caffiene and sweets.

LOL. During our Aug 2008 cruise, I had to order room service chocolate chip cookies and milk after reading about them on the Dis and in Passporter. I did not care for the cookies at all. They were big, but they weren't good. They were hard & dry and kind of bland. They reminded me of prepackaged store brand grocery store cookies. In my opinion, the Keebler Elves do a better job than DCL.

Mixed reviews here too.
Our first cruise (2006) they were OH SO DELICIOUS! Soft, not overcooked, delicious... and we all became addicted. We even started ordering them at bedtime so we could smuggle them off the ship the next day on excursions. LOL (bring baggies to do this!) And they are HUGE! No one told us that and the first time we ordered quite a few thinking they were normal cookie size- the person that brought them must have thought we were all pigs pigs pigs even though we're a family of 5. There were way too many because they were monster size! LOL

Our 2nd cruise (2008) -yuck. We tried several times to order them thinking we just got a bad batch but each time they were still huge- but hard as a brick, overcooked on what little we were able to bite off and try to eat. Very disappointed.. we missed those yummy cookies from 2006. :(

My dn ordered a giant choc chip cookie,
So 2 came, medium sized, she says" thats not a giant choc chip cookie" I said" but you have 2" and she says "thats not the point"

Is there any place else to pick up a cookie without going to the galley tour or ordering room service? (Like Topsiders perhaps?)

the galley tour, eh? I hadn't heard of it before...I assume it will be on our double dip?? Warm cookies, yum!

Goofy's Galley on Deck 9 has them all afternoon...at least they did everyday of the 1/17/09 Magic cruise.
