We are looking at the CR the beginning of January and I've never stayed there before. I'm reading some posts about things being closed and roped off.

Exactly what is still closed or under rehab right now?

IS there a counter service restaurant open?

Thanks for your help!

Hi! We were there Nov. 22 - Dec. 1. I loved it there! It was our first time staying there too. I prefered the theming at AKL, but you cannot beat the location of CR. We were sitting near the Haunted Mansion waiting on a parade and I looked towards the front of the park and was like, is that our hotel??? DH was like, don't rub it in (my sister and family were staying somewhere else).

Anyway, I didn't think the construction was a big deal. They finished that new store before we got there, so it was open. They have the temporary quick food place that is near Chef Mickey's and the steakhouse (more across from the steak place than Chef Mickey's actually). They don't have a lot of choices but we ate lunch there twice just to get a quick bite. The only hot items I saw was pizza. There might have been one more thing but I cannot remember. They had sandwiches in the cold section though, yogurt, drinks, desserts. That type of thing. I don't even remember seeing anything roped off, but I wasn't really looking for it. And you can see the cranes outside but I didn't think they were that big of a deal either.

Have fun!

I was at the Contemporary last week. All of the construction on the 4th floor has been completed for now. The new Fantasia shop is open and the Tempo Grab and Go is also open. They are builidng a new restuarant, The Wave, on the first floor but this is behind a partition and shouldn't interfere with your trip. I understand that the lobby renovation is also just about complete. The next phase of the rehab should occur in May when The Wave opens and the Concourse Steakhouse is closed for its conversion to the new counter service location. Constuction continues on the new DVC (or sutie) tower where the north garden wing once stood.

The current counter service retaurant, Tempo Grab & Go, is open on the 4th floor. Just to let you know, the offerings are failry minimal. For breakfast, they have the Contemporary Scrambler which comes with egg & cheese or egg, cheese, and bacon. It's egg and the other ingredients in a dough which is heated in a convection oven. At lunch and dinner, the only hot offerings are hot dogs, flatbread pizzas, and barbeque sandwiches. There are several coolers which have salads, subs, sandwiches, ice cream, popsicles, fruit, and drinks.

Thanks for your replies.

Can you tell me if the Grab and Go restaurant has the "to go" things like other resorts: like quarts of milk or fruit. I'd like to keep a few breakfast things in the room for my kids and we won't have a car.

Thanks!

The grab and go has the small cartons of milk (like what they serve at school). There might be one size bigger than that as well, but I don't remember. There is a store on that same floor (4th) right past the new store (like if you are walking towards the front of the new store and you go around that new store on the left - past the video arcade) there is a store down there that has the larger size milk. Half a gallon I believe. That is where we got our milk for the room. I can't remember any fruit, but I wasn't really looking for it. Vacation and everything you know. ;)

There are some fruit items in one of the coolers at Grab & Go. They are quite expensive, a small fruit bowl was about $3. Grab & Go also has apples, bananas, and oranges - I don't remember the price. As the previous poster mentioned, the Concourse Sundries store next to the arcade has milk, orange juice, etc. I'm a big yogurt fan and a 6 oz container of yoplait was $1.99 at grab & go. At the sundries store, the same 6 oz container was $1.25 - figure that one out!
