tell me about sunapee nh

We are going to be visiting friends in Sunapee nh next month and I have never been there. We want to stay in a hotel, anyone have any suggestions? Mostly, it looks like inns and B&B's. We are looking more for a big hotel, family friendly with a pool etc. If not in Sunapee, is there a good place near Sunapee to stay?

Is it similar to lake winnepesawki (sp) in terms of size and atmosphere?

I'm from Newport which is about 15 minutes from Lake Sunapee. There is a Best Western located very close to the beach entrance and to the entrance to the mountain http://www.sunapeelakelodge.com/

I have never stayed there but there is a restaurant right next door that I've heard isn't bad.

The hotel is actually located in Newbury, NH but like I said close to the entrance to the State Beach. To get to Sunapee you just take a road that is located to the left of the beach entrance.

I grew up in Sunapee but have only been back a few times in the last 10 years. The Best Western is nice, we stayed there a couple of years ago. Sunapee is great to visit during the summer. While I could never go back there to live, it is nice for a short visit.
