Tell me about SSR SPRINGS SECTION

We are staying at SSR in a ded. 2-bedroom this December. There will be 4 adults and 3 kids under 3. I requested Congress Park, b/c of the DTD proximity and possible DTD view. We stayed in that section in May '07, and we did not take advantage of it, nor did we get the DTD view (we had a nice, quiet wooded view).

But now I am having second thoughts. I have been reading a thread about the Grandstand, and I also atook a look at the SSR map.

Since I know about GS section, I'd like some specs on the Springs, i.e., What stop is it on the Bus route?

Also, what did you think of it? Is the farthest section still pretty convenient to the Carriage House and eateries? Is it pretty?

Thanks in advance for the info!

I am NOT an SSR expert but we did recently stay in the Springs section. We had a lovely view of a pond and my DH enjoyed sitting on the patio (first floor) to watch various birds fishing for dinner. We did not use the bus, though we could see the bus stop from our patio. I know the Springs stop is NOT one of the first ones but I did not see anyone being left behind because the bus was full.
The advantage of this location is its proximity to the restaurants, main pool and check-in area. I would gladly stay here again--or in the Grandstand section, which I have read is very nice.
Good luck! Have a magical trip!

We really liked the Springs with our kids because we were so close to the main pool, Community Hall and Artists' Palette. The Springs bus stop is the last bus stop I understand, but we did not use the buses.

If I went without my kids, I might like to try Congress Park for the DTD proximity, but I'm not sure. We really like being close to the main building a lot.

We had a great view out our window of one of the ponds with the fountain in it (a "spring" - imagine that) and our building was right across the street from the corner of the main building area.

I've stayed in the Springs and GS, and thought that GS felt a little more relaxing.
In Springs, I have a beautiful view across a pond to more SSR buildings, but overall felt I was "in the middle" of it all.

At Grandstand, I had a stunning view of the golf course and river to OKW, and the GS bus stop feels like a relaxing golf course viewing area instead of the Springs stop that was a stop in the middle of a busy area..

The Springs bus stop is in the middle of everything, but I never felt that that I was in an over-crowded area. The stop was very convenient to our villa, it was convenient to get off the bus and go up to eat or to go swim or the activities for the kids. We never had an over crowded bus when we stayed (beginning of October). I would definitely stay at the Springs again. I have not stayed at the GS area so can't comment on that except to say that it looked very quiet and peaceful and that stop was before the Springs stop coming back.

Good luck on making your decision. I don't think that you could make a wrong decision no matter which you pick.

Thank you all for your responses :). It gives me more of an idea about what I want out of this trip.

I think I will call MS and change my request to "Springs Section" ; DH and I like to feel like we're in the middle of the action.

With 3 kids under 3 Grandstand can't be beat, particularly the 2 buildings closest to the pool. The splash area is toddler heaven (and better than the main pool IMHO). We stayed their 3 weeks ago and were 25 yards to the bus stop, 50 yards to the pool, and a 5-7 minute walk to Artists Palate. Plus, the bus stop is the first to pick-up so there is always a place for the little ones to sit and is the first dropped off.

I agree with the above post. I have stayed in both sections, and I think the GS pool area looks like more fun for kids due to the spayer horses. Also the pool was so much less crowded. Bldg 8500 in the GS section is between the pool and the golf course. Our room faced the 18th hole..hubby loved it:lovestruc
It was a quick walk to the main building and food and being the first bus stop was sweet!:thumbsup2

My wife and I just returned from SSR and we stayed in the GS. Loved it!! The quiet pool was awesome, close to main buildings and first bus stop. The Springs is nice but we prefer the GS.

We will be traveling with our three kids
DD 5
DD 3
DS 1

The oldest can swim well enough and adventurous, our 3yr old wants to do anything her sister does and our 1 year old is just fearless.

I saw that there were a few different areas to swim...
zero depth
one with slides
one with a donald spraying water

Are these one pool or different? Where are they located. I am getting the opinion that either the Springs section or Grandstand is best, but trying to figure out which one is closer to the best pool for our kids.

Will probably be "napping" with the baby while one of us takes the girls swimming as they won't nap anymore. Would like to be close so when DS wakes up we can join in the fun.

Thanks.

That is the main pool at the Springs, it has all 3 of those. The Grandstand pool everyone is refering to is 1 single depth at the sides. The spray pad at the Grandstand is the main draw, it is much larger than the donald spray pad and lots more fun but no slide at the pool.

So, still torn on which one to request...I suppose will take either. It sounds like the Springs pool is much busier and also the last stop on the bus. We will have a car so it won't be much of an issue. Are they close to walk to if we wanted to try both pools or would we need to drive to them? Any suggestions on the building to request in either the Springs or Grandstand.

They both sound awesome. Thanks for the picture!

Also, so they offer life jackets/vests?

Does anyone have a picture of the Springs pool?

I thought Congress Park was the last stop :confused3 . Let me know for future reference ;)

BTW, I changed my request to: 1st choice-Springs, 2nd-Grandstand. I am sure we will like either location since it is closer to the restaurants and such. I doubt we will use the pool at either location, but it's good to know the pros and cons, per se, of each pool/bathing area.

Thank you all for your input!
