The food, the atmosphere, and anything else that will help me decide if it's for us... paint me a picture :artist: good or bad!

thanks in advance!

I ate there a little over a year ago and was not impressed. They gave us a pager and made us wait to be seated even though the place was mostly empty. In spite of the low crowds, the place was very noisy--we were seated in a corner and all the sound seemed to echo off all the hard surfaces and funnel into our corner. We had a hard time hearing each other for normal conversation. We ordered drinks and a selection of appetizers which ranged from very good to very bad. The calamari was just plain awful and greasy which really disappointed me because I'm a huge fan of calamari.

The service was good--I'll give them that--and I hear the menu has been changed since we ate there, so you may want to give it a try. I won't be going back.

We have eaten at Spoodles twice in the past year; first time was decent, second time was awful. The pasta is very bland and while the NY strip was good the first time, the second time both of ours were charred and hard to even cut. The service however, was very good and the desserts are pretty good. I've heard better things about the pizza window than the actual restaurant.

thanks for the input... methinks we'll find another place to eat :)

Don't go by just a couple of reviews. I'm going in September, based on the many great reviews I've read here on these boards. Believe me, the good reviews far outweight the bad. I figure it's worth a try.

We had a wonderful meal at Spoodles. It is a bit loud - most Disney restaurants have been IME - but I like the sophisticated setting with lots of warm wood accents. To each his own. :confused3

We are going back for a third time this Sept. You will never know what it is like until you try it!

Would love more reviews. Anyone been recently? We are still on the wall about this meal too. Thinking of changing to Chefs de France.

Spoodles had been one of our favorites, but visits with the family in tow in December, and with fellow marathoners in January were mediocre at best. I'm not planning on going back this January.

Please don't go by a couple of bad reviews. Check out the menu on www.allearsnet.com
We absolutely love Spoodles and have gone there many times. We were just there for dinner in May and had another great meal. In all our times there we have never had a bad experience with the staff or the food. Our kids love it too, especially the make your own sundaes!
It is a bit loud, but we never have a problem hearing eachother talk.
The food is always good and we have tried multiple things from the menu. We even took my mom and my sis there once and they loved it too. The flat bread pizza appetizer is so good! When we are staying at the BW I often get it to go and eat in our room!!
You never know until you try it and I think it's worth a shot!

I was there in December 05 with my 22 year old daughter and we loved Spoodles. It was our favorite table service meal. (Others were Le Cellier, Concourse Steakhouse and Mama Melrose).

We took a boat from MGM and got off at the Boardwalk stop. We were seated about 5 minutes after checking in. The dining area was large and pretty full but we didn't think that it was noisy (which is a comment that I have seen before).

There was a large seating area that we walked through and we were seated right past that. The decor was great - the service was wonderful and the food was the best of our trip. There was a magician that came into the dining area and performed at several tables.

I have Spoodles on our "must eat at" list!

We have eaten at Spoodles every single trip (sometimes 2 or 3 times) since they opened and would not dream of missing it! The food is wonderful, the service friendly and the atmosphere just great.

On our last visit, 2 weeks ago, one of the delicious dishes we enjoyed was the 4 cheese flatbread .. aka .. heaven on a plate! This is my favorite food at any WDW restaurant. They serve wonderful bread and dipping oil to everyone. This is not your standard olive oil with a few spices, but a wonderful mixture of I-am-not-sure-what-kind of deliciouness!

For some reason I have yet to figure out, they do tend to make you wait to be seated at Spoodles even when there are empty tables. It isn't very long and the beepers reach all over the Boardwalk, so you can take a stroll.

The tables are not too close together like some WDW restaurants. One cool feature is that every light fixture is different. It can be a bit noisy as the kitchen is open, but we very much enjoy watching the chefs and seeing all the entrees.

Give it a try .. you won't be sorry! Don't forget a dessert sampler! :thumbsup2

is the magician a regular occurance?

i checked out the menu and it's very much in line w/our family's tastes... what exactly is the "atmosphere" or setting?

Spoodles is our favorite FOOD on property so far. And that includes some signiture places in there. My Strip was wonderful, and cooked exactly how I ordered it. I got the scallops and srhimp add ons with it. The shrimp were wonderful and the Scallops so good they didn't get passed around. The rigitoni was excellent. The dish of the night and of the entire trip was the Portuguese seafood stew. Delicious. Bland certainly wouldn't describe this dish. It's got a kick. But it is oh so yummy unless you absolutely hate spice. Obviously it cannot match the total experience one gets at some of the signiture places, but it more than held its own with the food.

As to the atmosphere, it has an open show kitchen where you can watch them at work. It does get a bit loud in there due to nothing of noise absorbing characteristics in the decor, but not any louder than your average Disney place. It certainly wasn't any louder than Narcoosee's or CA Grill can get. It was certainly not a formal atmosphere, but neither was it grunge. They served everything on brightly colore, oversized dishes.

We ate breakfast at Spoodles during our last trip and were far from impressed. The atmosphere inside was decent, and we had 0 wait... I think there were a total of 11-12 customers in there (including the 3 of us). We thought the food was below average, especially for the price. I had the pancakes... ate 2-3 bites and couldn't force down anymore. Someone else had the All American Breakfast and I helped her finish the potatoes and sausage.

If you are big eaters and want to try the All you can eat breakfast platter, it might be worth it for you, but we weren't impressed.

We have not had dinner there so I can't comment on that, though they have a wonderful cheese pizza, which we had late one night and ordered from the Boardwalk window.

The food was outstanding. DH rated his steak there equal to or better than Le Cellier. I made a bad choice and had lamb (special), and it was greasy. That's the nature of lamb, I guess, but I didn't enjoy it. The dessert was good, though!! However the sangria was delicious!!!!

I thought the service was less than stellar and the place was noisy. I didn't even realize it was an open kitchen, but guess I just wasn't paying attention.

As I was coming back from the bathroom with DD, I realized I think we would have been able to see fireworks from Epcot -- we heard them but didn't get to see since we were in the ladies'. We were by a window so that would have been a nice bonus.

We will definately go back to Spoodles, though, on our own. We went with BIL, SIL, and DN in hopes of catching up (they live in FL) but really couldn't carry on a conversation very well.

We did Spoodles for late breakfast, early lunch. We LOVED it. It was pratically empty. The food was awesome! It's big, airy and really pretty.
