I since I'm going to miss the 7DMT opening by 10 days...tell me how soft openings may work:)
(Based on prior experience of course)

1: do they just let a handful of people on at a time or is it open for a couple hours?

2: morning, afternoon, or evening...what's our best chance

3: is there a twitter feed I can follow that will give me my best chance to hurry over?

they just open and close the attraction with no real warnings... im sure people will be posting on twitter and stuff when it does open but i dont know of a feed that will give continuous updates

Unless it's open for a specific group....like AP holders....it's pretty much luck of the draw. You could walk past it on your way to the Little Mermaid attraction and nothing would be up and running. But, by the time you walked back past it, it could be allowing guests to ride it. Just no way to be sure.....luck of the draw.

Will be there May 20-26 missing it by 2 days. What to do now? It is possible but not easy to extend my trip a few days but then it would be just my luck the May 28 date changes. I'm hoping for a soft opening ride or just forget about it... maybe book a trip in the Fall. I'd love to know some tips for soft openings...

Maybe we will find a spot near the entrance to the ride to eat our QS lunch, take our breaks, etc.

Meanwhile... back to planning Star Wars Weekend at Hollywood Studios.

If people are riding for a soft opening, does it immediately develop a huge line? As in, can you line up for it? Or do you literally have to be "tapped" by a CM to ride it?

There are no specifics to soft openings - it's totally random - no particular time of day, no specific days, and no specific amount of time. There is no way to know - you just have to get lucky. There is no game plan with soft openings.

You may happen to walk by and a CM might be somewhere close to the entrance and say something like "we are doing a dress rehearsal if you would like to ride". There is no way of telling how many people will be in line or how long the ride will be open.

We will be there on Mother's day, I am hoping that we are lucky enough for a soft opening, I chose Disney this year over Universal because I thought this ride would be open and I knew we would be missing the opening of Diagon Alley.
