We just booked shutters instead of sci-fi, it looked yummier! Plus kids can get prime rib there:)

We ate there last week and had a pretty good meal. It was at a disadvantage though because we ate there later in our stay, and we had already had some truly great dining experiences.

There is no real reason to NOT recommend it, but there are a number of places that I would choose before here. Olivia's and Kona Cafe are both superior, so you may want to check out their menus.

I liked Shutters better than the Sci-Fi too. The seating was much more comfortable for starters, and I think the selection was better at Shutters. The only complaint of course, is that you'd be leaving the park versus eating in the park, which I know for some, is not a complaint.
If you're looking for good eats in some of the resorts, Olivia's gets a second from me; we also enjoyed the Maya Grill, although it was a little more "adult-ish."

Shutters is at the Caribbean Beach resort @ Old Port Royale. We ate there Sunday 9/4, with an 6:30pm ADR. We were seated quickly. The food IMHO was just ok. Had I known before what I learned after I would have definately picked some place else. It was a toss up between Concourse, Olivia's and the Grand Floridian Cafe, I chose Shutters. The 'Shutters Swirl' mixed drink was really good, the wings were great (Disney knows how to do wings). Dh had the Island Smoked Prime Rib 12oz cut with shrimp add-on (he liked his steak), I had the crab cakes and the Mojo Barbecue Shrimp (I did not care much for my meal, it was just o.k, though the spinach was good), DD6 had Iago's Grilled Chicken Breast (which she did not like, she would not touch the chicken). DD had the ice cream castle, which she liked, I had the creme brulee, which was ok, we got the chocolate cake with some type of raspberry sauce to go. Ate it later and it was pretty good.

Just my opinion, of course we all have different tastes, you may like it, but I did not and will not go back again, unless I see something else that tickles my fancy. The service was good, though our CM, never really seemed to smile, he did explain everything well and answer questions, and refilled DH drink often/frequently without having to be asked. Left an additional tip (we had the dining plan).

We ate there for Easter 2005. My DH had the lamb- yuck! It was not great food all around. There was no ambience at all, I don't even remember hearing any music. I was not impressed.

The Sci-Fi is somewhere we never miss. My kids love it and you can't go too wrong with fries and sandwiches. The ambience is really neat and very unique.

Have fun! :goodvibes

Your server didn't happen to be Tony did it? He was ours, and just as you are describing, he did not really smile, but did do a good job of clearing plates and refilling drinks.

Yep, that's who it was. He seems to be consistent.
