Tell me about shipping souvenirs back home

I understand that there are two ways for me to get items home other than bringing them on the plane: shipping from Disney and shipping from UPS/Fedex. When I looked into the Disney shipping I saw that the rates were based on price and not weight, which I like, but I got the impression that it only worked if I shipped items from one store.

Here's my dilema: I want to be shopping the whole time I'm at the parks and use the resort delivery service to have all my stuff sent to my resort gift shop. I was hoping that I could then get the gift shop to send everything home to me in one package, hopefully based on the sum of all the item prices as if I'd bought them all there.

Has anyone on the boards tried this method? I'd prefer not having to go to the business centers and getting everything packed up and sent off, as it would cost a bit more and I'd have to worry more about breakage (I know Disney would cover any issues if they shipped it).

Thanks!

I did this before at AKL. Go to the resort's gift shop and ask for a box (they have lots in the back room), then pack everything into the box and take it to the front desk. They can set up the shipping for you. I will caution you that if there's anything breakable, you would be better off having Disney ship that for you simply because they will replace it if it arrives broken. If you ship it and it breaks, it's not on Disney to replace it.

Hi there! As a former merchandise cast member, I know for a fact you are allowed to ship items that you have previously bought. Just as you stated, send all your items to the resort gift shop and when you've finished shopping they will take them all and put them in a box to be shipped together! Just remember you can't send your souvenirs back to the resort if you are within 24-48 hours of departure. Have a wonderful vacation!

Say we bought one of those monorail or Spaceship Earth playsets in the big bulky boxes. What would be a ballpark figure to have them shipped to home (NY)?

Here you go! The price is based on how much you purchased so it makes sense to ship at the end!

GROUND (10-15 days)
  • Purchase total = $0.00 – $50.00; Shipping rate = $9.95
  • Purchase total = $50.01 – $75.00; Shipping rate = $14.95
  • Purchase total = $75.01 – $100.00; Shipping rate = $19.95
  • Purchase total = $100.01 – $150.00; Shipping rate = $24.95
  • Purchase total = $150.01 – $250.00; Shipping rate = $29.95
  • Purchase total = $250.01 – $500.00; Shipping rate = $34.95
  • Purchase total = $500.01 – $1000.00; Shipping rate = $39.95

AIR EXPRESS (1-3 days)
  • Purchase total = $0.00 – $50.00; Shipping rate = $34.95
  • Purchase total = $50.01 – $75.00; Shipping rate = $39.95
  • Purchase total = $75.01 – $100.00; Shipping rate = $44.95
  • Purchase total = $100.01 – $150.00; Shipping rate = $49.95
  • Purchase total = $150.01 – $250.00; Shipping rate = $59.95
  • Purchase total = $250.01 – $500.00; Shipping rate = $74.95
  • Purchase total = $500.01 – $1000.00; Shipping rate = $89.95
@jhaig As you can see above it will be about 20 dollars to ship it home!

Fantastic, it's great to hear it from the source! So the merchandise CM at my resort will add up the value of everything I've had delivered to the resort and price based off the matrix linked by Jack above?

Hooray!

Exactly! All the original receipts are attached to the package pick-up slips, just make sure you have your green slip they give you to pick up your packages! It is important not to forget those as we can't yet scan the magic bands to pick up packages (unless things have changed within the year, but I'm pretty sure you still need the slip to pick-up)! Hope that helps :)

If you are going to get a box from the resort gift shop, go early in the week not toward the weekend. They run low on boxes when there are so many people checking out at the end of the week.

I think they sell the monorail set on disneystore.com and you could probably get free shipping? Might be a good idea to check.
