Tell me about Sanaa

After tweaking our ADRs multiple times, DH and I sat down today to tweak one last time...the debate was whether to go to Crystal Palace for dinner or breakfast. We decided on breakfast an hour before MK opens...we have been there for dinner and loved it so this was not an easy decision.

So, I switched our Kona dinner ADR for our MK day, since the Poly is close to MK (we're returning to the park for the parade that night). I added in Sanaa, because DH loves Indian food and it seems like a nice menu. I have not had much Indian food at all, really just tandoori chicken on a cruise once, but I loved that...still I am guessing it was not authentic since I was on a cruise ship, but that Disney's Indian food would be of similar quality.

Tell me a little about Sanaa. What is really good there? DH loves spicy food, but I like only a little spice (mild or medium spice). I saw on their menu that they serve tandoori chicken, and also lamb or shrimp. The bread service also looks fantastic, definitely right up our alley! We will have our 2 sons with us, ages 3 and 5, and I looked at the children's menu...lots of things for them to choose from so I am not worried. So, tell me your opinions about Sanaa please!

We really enjoy Sanaa. It is not typical Indian food, but more Indian-esque. If you (or in this case your DH) likes Indian spices, it'll work well. And they will adjust to your spice tolerance.

I am absolutely dying to try Sanaa. The menu looks fantastic. We chose Kouzzina instead last trip and were thrilled with our decision, but I am very curious to hear firsthand reports about Sanaa. I don't think I have read a negative review yet! It's definitely on my list for next visit.

For those of you who have been there, is there something I must try? Also, how are the desserts? Worth it or should be wait until we get back to our resort and go to Boardwalk Bakery for a treat?

Went to Sanaa's twice in the last 2 weeks. (we're locals).

Took my 2 kids the first time and then took the kids and wife the second time. Sanaa's is excellent.

The salads are all excellent and different. The bread service is awesome, and the food is very good. Seeing the animals out the window made it a unique and relatively (for disney) cheap eating experience. Had the Tandori Shrimp but preferred the wife's tandorri chicken. The tomato soup is fantastic and different, definately not out of a can.

My wife got the sauces on the side, the curry sauce has some spice. Next time we go I will also ask for the sauces on the side so I can decide how much to lather on.

On the kids menu is something called Meaty Mac, but when my 3YO asked for Mac and cheese, the waitress said no problem as that menu item could be made with a cheese sauce instead of the red sauce and some of the best Mac and Cheese came out.

The Vanilla Rice Pudding is really good.

My experience with Sanaa is fantastic! I did have the tandoori chicken. I loved it! My DH had the red curry and the green curry. He loved both of them as well. For us, the bread service with various dips are well worth the trip to Kidani. We liked the mango chutney, cucumber raita, and the red pepper hummus. All the breads were gone, as well as the dips. We tried the dessert sampler and loved it as well.

No need to wait until after dinner to see the animals. When checking in, ask the hostess if you could be seated next to the windows. The boys had a fantastic evening watching the animals roam right next to the table as they ate.

We loved Sanaa as well. It is a really beautiful restaurant, with a very intimate atmosphere. Dh and I went to celebrate our anniversary without the kids while they hung with the grandparents in the room. We were staying at Kidani, so it was very convenient.
We had the bread service with the same dips as above. It was amazing. I don't love Indian food, but really liked my Tandori chicken. It had a wonderful flavor, and was very tender. Dh had the short ribs, and the green curry shrimp. He does not like spice, but loved both of his dishes.
We were full, so we didn't have dessert.
I definite recommend trying it out. Plus it is fun to walk around Kidani which is an amazing resort. Get there early so you can see the animals, and hang out around the fire pit and talk to a CM after dinner.

Sanaa was excellent! It's not authentic Indian, but it is delicious! Anything that is 'spicy' is served pretty mild. You can ask them to make it a bit spicier. I forgot about this and didn't ask until my order had been put in, but it worked out well - the server brought out some of the spice mix and I got to tailor the dish to my own exact desired spice level.

I had the Salad Sampler - my absolute favorite was the Watermelon and Radish.
For an entree I had the Slow Cooked in Gravy, Simple and Well Seasoned - chicken with red curry sauce, beef short ribs, and a 5 grain pilaf.
I had the dessert sampler - chocolate cake, chai cream, and passion fuit kulfi.

Almost everything I tried was excellent. The only lackluster thing I had was the chocolate cake. It was a fantastic meal!

The bread service was fantastic. DH had the short ribs and the chicken in red curry. I'm not much of a beef eater but even I thought the short ribs were very nicely spiced and the meat was very tender. I had the chicken in red curry which I really enjoyed and the prawns in green curry which I thought was kind of bland. I wasn't aware that I could ask to have the spice level adjusted but I'll take advantage of that next time.

That bread service sounds amazing!! I definitely think we will end up getting that and sharing it. DH will probably go with the slow-cooked meats in gravy...seems like something he would enjoy. I am more inclined to go for tandoori chicken, lamb or shrimp. I like it that they have a 5-grain pilaf available as a side choice! The desserts don't look all that appealing though, from what I read on the menu. We may have to get dessert somewhere else...maybe back at BW Bakery when we return to BWV.

Their menu seems to have changed and dwindled from when they first opened. (At least from the last time I was there.) But it is still very good and relaxing.
Also if anyone in your party is allergic to mango, this is not the place to be. They have "hidden mango" (used as a thickening agent). I was in a group there with someone who has a mango allergy.

Their chai cream dessert is to die for.

No one is allergic to mango, so no problems there! My older son is allergic to shellfish but I already contacted Disney about it and they are going to fax me a form to fill out so it can be linked to all our ADRs. Other than that, no allergies!
