Tell me about Riverside, please!

We had reservations at POFQ with AAA discount of $122/nite, and we were very psyched about it after doing quite a bit of research. This trip is with my in-laws, who are pretty mobile, but the smallness of FQ was it's biggest drawing card. After a few months having your mind set on something, however, it was a bit disappointing to only getting AP rates at Riverside. Can anyone lift my spirits a bit!!! (They aren't that low:tongue: ) Tell me all the great things!!!

Funny, earlier I replied to another post on how great POR is. The landscaping is gorgeous. We always stay in the bayou section, and we love the quietness of it. Our rooms have always been very clean, and mousekeeping was always up to par when we were there. The food court has plenty of choices for quick, on the go stuff, reasonably priced. The pool area is fun, but can get crowded, and chairs are hard to come by, but we loved the quiet pool near our building, so we didnt care. Never did the surrey bikes around the resort, always wanted to, looks like a nice ride. We've been there 3 times in 3 years and we have a wonderful stay each time. We alo never had a hard time with the busses either. Great gift shop too. I really dont have anything bad to say about this place. It's like coming home whenever we drive through the entrance. Enjoy!!!:smooth: Oh, yeah, the boat ride to DD is a plus too!

Don't worry Palendat......POR is a great resort....I stayed there for the first time last December after 3 stays at CBR and was not disappointed....you still have access to what I consider the greatest feature the boat to DTD. I also have to ask....were you not able to get an AP rate at POFQ I booked AP rate $79 for 3 rooms 12/16 - 12/26 and had no problems....just wondering if they wouldn't offer POFQ for some reason.

I was on the phone at 06:59:55 on Wednesday and got right through, no waiting, so I was obviously the first call that my CM received that morning, and still there were no rooms at POFQ for my dates. Maybe it was just one night of our stay (Oct 23-Nov 2) that was causing the problem, but I didn't want to risk losing the POR room that he said was available while he searched for which specific night was giving me the problem at POFQ (considering how slow their computers are at times).

I guess it's probably the dates that were the problem...seems like I have seen quite a few people having trouble with the end of October....it's so strange to me that the end of October is so full and the week before Christmas I didn't have any problem....oh well who knows why that is.

We are in the same boat. Wanted POFQ but couldn't get the AP rate for all the dates we needed for the second week of Nov.

We were able to get POR so we are hoping we will enjoy it. We are requesting the Mansion section.

I was also wondering is there were coffee makers in the rooms. Does anyone know?

We were in Oak Manor in MB & they had coffeemakers in the rooms. Our rooms had been renovated, but don't know if AB has been started, so not sure about coffeemakers in those rooms.

As for October, there are a lot of things going on during this month like conventions, Food & Wine Festival, etc. That's why it is regular season & most of December is value.
;)

Until we joined DVC, my husband and I ONLY stayed at POR. Well it was Dixie Landings back then...

When I was growing up it was always the Contemporary, but it was much more reasonably priced back then.

POR is a great resort. We've stayed several times in the mansions, and twice in the bayou. I like the mansion better simply because of the stately-ness of it. But the bayou is just as nice room-wise. The furniture is different depending on which area you're in, but the rooms are comfortable and clean. And you can park right at your room in most instances.

I don't have anything bad to say about POR. I think it is a nice place to stay.

I love POR (always will be Dixie Landings to me!:D ). We always stay at Alligator Bayou, and it is so lush, peaceful, and beautiful. There's just nothing like that walk up to the food court in the mornings through the meandering paths. My family likes it better that POFQ. I do know that when we were there in June some rooms in magnolia bend had been renovated, and I don't believe that any in Alligator Bayou had been done yet. But the renovations were so unobtrusive that I didn't realize until our last night that they were going on in one of the mansion buildings. You'll love either FQ or Riverside, don't worry!!

I don't know if I'm just one in a million or something but...

We stayed at PORR last December and I honestly don't think I'll stay there again. The resort was okay, the pools were nice, and the restaurant was so-so.

I think for my money if I can't go deluxe, I'd rather go value. The moderates just don't thrill me.

Am I alone in this thought?

We stayed at POR in July in MB. It's a beautiful resort! The food court had good food, Boatwright's restaurant was great for breakfast and Bob Jackson is a hoot in the River Roost lounge.

The boat to DTD is so convenient and also stops at FQ on the way if you wanted to go there to swim, or try their food court.

It was a great resort and we enjoyed our stay very much! Wouldn't hesitate to go back!
