Tell me about Resort Decorations..

We are going to be staying at POR.. Nov 26-Dec 4th..

We have seen some great specials on the History channel about all the great holiday decorations at the resorts... Like huge gingerbread houses, amazing trees...etc!

What are the "Not to Miss" Resorts?

We have two small chldren... Daughter who is 5 and son who is 3.

All of the resorts I have stayed in are decorated very nicely but the Grand Floridian was indeed the best. The lobby is beautiful with its huge tree and the life-size gingerbread house. POR is pretty, especially the check-in area and the lobby with a large tree. All the resorts and parks are decorated with lots of poinsettas. We love Christmas time at WDW! Magic Kingdom is decorated the best of the parks and the Christmas music walking down Main Street puts you in the holiday mood. We will be there 11/25 - 12/2. Can't wait! Have a great trip!

The GF is our favorite too, we took some pictures by the tree, last year there were alot of brides in the lobby for pictures too. The gingerbread house was fantastic. Note, dont buy the gingerbread shingles from there, they are horrible to eat!! We also liked the beach club, it had a huge carousel. We also sat in the dolphin lobby and heard a beautiful piano player, very relaxing. Huge decorated tree there too. Of course the park trees are just great. Each park has it own unique decorations and dont miss the osborne lights at mgm. Loved the theming at epcot, christmas from around the world, our teen ds enjoyed it too, like pere noel in france, the storyteller in italy etc. Its a great time of year to go, enjoy your trip.

Don't have any to add as we've only been once but our next trip is after thanksgiving and I am SO EXCITED to see the decorations!

Each Resort has specially themed decorations for the Holidays....they will be done before Thanksgiving weekend.

Particular favorites....

* Grand Floridian - checkout the lifesize ginger bread house
* Wilderness Lodge - I LOVE the Wildie and their decorations are beautiful
* Animal Kingdom Lodge - Did you know this is the one Disney hotel with a museum curator....so much original African Art....Lobby is beautifully decorated
* Beach Club Resort - checkout the chocolate carousal
* Boardwalk & Yacht Club have wonderful trains

Disney has slowly cut back on the decorations from years past so I cannot guarantee what was there last year will return.....but the resorts ARE beautiful and doing their best to keep things festive. For example, when the Beach Club's decorations were changed (as scheduled), there were fewer decorations than in years past.....so they just kept much of the old decorations in other parts of the resort so it would still be festive.

We have always LOVED the poinsettias......EVERYWHERE! We were told the variety was "liberty red" and they are BEAUTIFUL....all the plantings are vibrant red.

Each country in World Showcase at EPCOT is decorated. For example, Germany is generally decorated with Greens and Red fruit - just as it would have been 150 years ago.

Each park has a 65 foot tree and have tree-lighting ceremonies. The children will LOVE these - lots of characters and Christmas energy - check the schedule. EPCOT has a fabulous light show at the entrance to World Showcase which entertains continually after dark. You walk through the lights up to the beautiful tree.

Finally, don't forget the "postscript" to EPCOT's Illuminations......"Let there be Peace on Earth"....not a dry eye in the place.

WDW is magical at the Holidays. Jim and I spent most of our vacation time elsewhere this year but we will return to WDW for 9 days right after Thanksgiving to soak up as much Disney Christmas magic as possible.
