My family just booked out first EVER family vacation (it took a little effort on my part to get it to be at WDW!) and we booked Port Orleans Riverside, which was huge for us since this is a once-in-a-lifetime trip for us and I thought for sure we'd be staying at a value because of money.

Anyway, so we're booked here for about 8 nights I think? Can anyone tell me about this resort? We don't have any resort days planned, but we are taking it easy on our arrival day and our Animal Kingdom day so we'll have a little time to spend there.

Thank you!

There is a POR thread filled with lots of info; it is one of the best maintained threads. POR is my home resort; definitely take advantage of their activities.

It's a beautiful resort with a mansions section & alligator bayou section, I've stayed in both. My preference is mansions but if you have 5 ppl you have to stay in AB since it has a Murphy bed

The food court is good, the pools & gift ships are nice, there are multiple bus stops so no one is walking too far. Por is our fave mod. There is a thread all about it & there is also a web site if you google it dedicated specifically to POR and its sister resort POFQ

I love POR the grounds are beautiful. There is a boat to dtd and fq. We always take a stroll down along the river to the fq for beignets for breakfast. From Wed. through Sat. Yeehaw Bob has a great show in the lounge. I think it starts around 8. It is lots of fun for all ages and definitely worth seeing if you have a free night.
