Tell me about Ohana for dinner

All you can eat meat on a stick served rather quickly.

We have eaten at Ohana's for supper on our last four trips. This last visit a few weeks back was the best time ever! We love it!

We placed our Ohana meal as one of our top meals of this last trip. We were on the deluxe plan & ate lots of great meals. We dined at Yachtmann's, LeCellier, Artist Point, Calif Grill, Flying Fish, Coral Reef, San Angel Inn, Tony's, CRT, Yak & Yeti, Sci Fic & Cafe May breakfast. And it placed up there in the top 5 for sure! I think the top 5 may of tied as they were all awesome in different ways!

Ohana is served family style. A salad comes out first with a bread. I love the salad w/ the sweet type dressing. I could make a meal off it & the bread.

Next you get wings which are yummy & some dumplings which neither of us care much about. You also have a plate of broccoli w/ snow peas & noodles. I love the snow peas...dislike the noodles. You get 3 dipping sauces for the meats also. I really like one of them.

Then the meats start coming around. Steak, chicken & shrimp. We passed on the steak this time & filled up on the chicken & my DH ate his share of shrimp. The chicken was so moist & so so good! Hated to get full...as it was that good!

Then you get bread pudding for dessert topped with ice cream & a awesome sauce. It is delicious!

We love it here. The place is laid back & the good awesome. After several nights of the fancy places...it was fun to get top notch eats in a causal restaurant.

There are games & singing & things going on while you eat & that makes it fun. The night we were there there were 2 teen age guys & they played the games along with the kiddos & we had lots of laughs watching their good spirited fun! Was Dec 15th & it was a huge group they were with.

We try new places each time we go..so we drop some old ones off each time...however, Ohaha never gets off the list...it is our one must do on each trip.

It really depends on the dining preferences of you and your family. MagicalMawMaw gave a very good description of the meal. I will add one thing: it's noisy and you will rarely be seated on time. With that proviso I will say that DH and I have eaten there numerous times and enjoy it for what it is. DH calls it 'carnivore heaven" for the all-you-care-to-eat meats.:rotfl2:

I've seen both positive and negative reviews, so it really depends on your tastes and the day you go.

Last trip we did the dining plan and all 7 of us (grandparents, DH&I, and kids) agreed it was our favorite meal of the trip. The food was good and the kids had fun. We had no trouble waiting, but we were seated in a large corner table right when they opened.

This is the only restaurant that everyone says we must do again next trip.

I had my parents over for dinner after our trip and made the wings, shrimp, and the dessert. The kids surprised us by going upstairs and changing into the outfits and leis they wore at the Polynesian while I was cooking. :goodvibes

I have been trying to get an O'hana dinner reservation for our first or second night in February and haven't had any luck. *insert tantrum right here* lol

'Ohana is our favorite restaurant! Loved the food, service, and atmosphere. Our only complaint...if you will call it that....is that the meat was served on the rare side. We like ours well done. Not sure if we can could have asked for it that way. Other than that, a delicious meal!

We love it.

They also served pork. DH got a whole skew of shrimp put on his plate. He was in heaven.
That was our trip a couple weeks ago. I am going again on the next trip in a couple of weeks.
It has become one of our favorites.

Love the atmosphere, but too much meat for my liking. I do LOVE shrimp, but when we were there, they were in the shell , so of course they weren't "cleaned" out. I don't usually get dessert when I go out to eat, but of course I eat it when I am on the dining plan..and that dessert just isn't my cup of tea either. I always suggest to try things yourself so you can decide :)

We didn't like it...at all... :duck:. The only thing we enjoyed were the salad and bread. Dry, smokey meat that all tasted the same. We were served pork and turkey at the same time and we couldn't tell the difference between the two.:confused3 The noodles were cold and gluey, the dumplings were just this side of dry cardboard and the veggies seemed like just frozen broccoli and peppers warmed up. I know...I know..we are weird. :upsidedow

Then we're weird too. We had dinner at 'Ohana on our last trip and were looking forward to it. It turned out to be the worst meal we've ever had at WDW, anywhere. The meat was way overcooked, the shrimp almost raw. The potstickers were so tough we couldn't eat them. I managed to pry one apart to scrape out the filling. The salad came out with no dressing. The noodles were sticky and cold. The veggies seemed like a bag of frozen broccoli and peppers, just like the PP said, only they were so overcooked, it was like baby food. Honestly, the only part of the meal that was even edible was the dessert, which I have to say was tasty. We left 'Ohana hungry and picked up a flatbread pizza at BCV on the way to our room. We definitely won't be giving it a second chance. There's too many other TS places that we enjoy to give up a DDP credit and pray we get the food so many others rave about.

I really wanted to love this meal but it was unfortunately disappointing.

There were some high points: It's location in the Poly, the crazy strong lapu lapu drink(served in a pineapple), our window view of the castle decorated for Christmas and watching the fireworks from the Poly beach.

The low points: The food. The salad and dumplings were ok, the dessert was good, but the meat was just bad. Actually, the beef was completely inedible...I couldn't even chew through any of it:guilty: The worst of it hit us later, we were terribly bloated and suffered gastrointestinal issues later that night and the next day.

Overall, the bad outweighed the good it was a consensus that we won't be going back to 'Ohana in the foreseeable future.

We just dined at 'Ohana on 22nd of December. It is always one of our must do's when we visit DisneyWorld. We got lucky with our table and were seated near a window with a view of the castle. I was a gentleman and sat with my back to the window so that DW and the kids could enjoy the view.

I had read at one time that 'Ohana had ditched their honey lime dressing in their salad but it turned out they still have it. And that was fine by us, especially DW. The salad and their bread is a great start to the meal.

The potstickers and honey coriander wings are a favorite of mine. I could make a meal out of those all by themselves. Unfortunately, they were both overcooked this time around. It still didn't stop me from eating them. I suspect both were prepared well before we sat down to dine. The broccoli and snow peapods were both good but I only had a courtesy helping of these greens. I'm here for the meat!!!

The skewers were then presented to us. Our server told us that they marinate all of their meats for 48 hours. I certainly believe that to be the case (espcially the steak). The fibers in the steak were broken down very good. All five of us at our table enjoyed the meats. I especially love the shrimp.

It's easy to see the criticism that I read in some of the above posts. Some of the meats are prepared very rare and some of them are prepared very well done. If you have never been to 'Ohana before, they cook the skewered meats over open flames. There are a lot of skewers and the flames on their grills really shoot high at times. The cooks can't possibly keep a close enough eye on every skewer to make sure every skewer is cooked to a consistent temp. The pork, chicken and shrimp are almost always cooked well done but the steak will usually vary in their internal temps when they are delivered to your table.

Last but not least, the bread pudding with vanilla ice cream is a nice end to the meal. I had the bread pudding at Raglan Road the night before and I could not tell much of a difference between the two. They are both very good.

We went last April during our anniversary trip (kidless!) My favorite part was the salad followed by the wings.

DH loved the wings and the potstickers.

We thought the meat was tough and all had the same flavor. And the shrimp needed peeling. :confused3

I thought it was pretty loud. There was a lady leading dances, games and songs. And I was nearly trampled by a group of preteen boys during the "coconut race."

We didn't care for the bread pudding either.

It is the one restaurant my family does not want to return to. Even if the food had been good, it wasn't, the over an hour wait for a table was ridiculous. In our case, we had FOUR young CMs standing at the podium discussing their love lives while we sat there looking at empty tables.

Ohana definately gets mixed reviews :goodvibes. We've had great and terrible breakfast experiences and booked a dinner last Sept. with a little trepidation. Our experience was perfect and fun. The server was professional, the timing of food delivery perfect, and the food itself fantastic. It was one of the top meals of our 10 day trip. I know its not always like this. I think when its good its very good and when its bad, it can be very bad.

This. We ate there and our meal came out backwards. Meat on a stick, followed by salad, followed by the appetizers and then dessert. It was weird, but DS had a blast. You'll find a 50/50 split on this place here.

We love it and it's a must do every trip. We've never had a bad experience there. If your meat is to rare, too done or whatever, just ask for it the way you like it and they'll bring it the way you want.

We've been twice - once 2 years ago, and then again a few weeks ago. The first time we went was late in the evening, and was wonderful. The most recent time was around 6:00, and was good, but not as great as before. The salad and bread are excellent. The chicken wings were good, but the pot sticker things were very tough. The noodles and veggies were the same as always. The pork and chicken were dry, and seemed like they were really over-marinated. The steak and shrimp were fine on the spices, but the steak was tough.

We'll definitely give it another try on our next trip. Even with some problems, it was still a good meal.

The huge line for check in was annoying but the food and service was great and DD loved the entertainment. I'd definately recommend trying it!
