My bf and I were thinking about going to wdw for a long weekend in October. Is there one weekend in particular that would be best? Does it get really crowded on Halloween weekend? Is hurricane season over in Oct? Is it warm enough to swim still? :confused3 Help me decide :)

Yes, I'm from UK where the weather is not consistent, but IMHO it is definitely warm enough to swim. UK schools break the last week of October which also coincides with Halloween & I know that all packages & flights around this time are full. Also, Oct 31 MNSSHP sells out, so I guess I would avoid this time. Columbus day w/end will also increase crowd levels, but noticeably drop off after, so I guess I'd go around the middle of the month. Pass on the hurricane part, but I think that it is all over then.

Warm enough to swim, and Halloween week is always packed. A week in early Oct (like when we're going 10/1-10/9) should be fine.
As for hurricane season--traditionally mostly over by Oct, but who knows these days???

Don't forget you'll have the Food and Wine Festival going on which is an added bonus. Check on when the golf tournament is - the parks don't get crowded but the resort availability can be limited. I've been there for Halloween and I didn't think it was all that bad (of course, we head the opposite direction from the kids).

October is my absolute favorite time to go to WDW. The weather is sublime, the crowds are manageable & the F&WF is NOT to be missed. Halloween weekend gets busier than other times in Oct, but still isn't too bad. If you can do a mid-week trip, even better as the F&WF draws alot of locals on the weekends. Even with that, it still beats any of the Peak times.
You will LOVE oct. in WDW!

How does October compare to middle March, which is spring break time?

When planning park days, would you avoid EPCOT during the weekends due to the F&WF?
