Tell me about Ocean City Maryland

Thought of another place

Fractured Prune--MOST wonderful donuts EVER!!

What she said!!! Just look at my tag:thumbsup2.

ETA: Pick up a free Sunny Days guide that is available in MANY of the hotels and restaurants there. LOTS of listings for restaurants, attractions and such. It also has coupons in it!!!

My DH and kids are huge huge huge doughnut nuts. I definately have to check this out.

Thrashers fries on the boardwalk
Crabcake factory
Watermans
Fractured prune
Tequila mockingbird
dough roller pizza

Whatever happens, resist the temptation to go to phillips seafood buffet, no matter how long the line looks. That is the biggest tourist trap in OC.

Very true about Phillips. Just don't go.

I also second Crabcake Factory for crabcakes. It's not a swanky, fine dining place at all but I love it.

I agree. Went there for the first time last year. They pack you in like sardines and the food was nothing to write home about.

We usually go to Ember's for the seafood buffet, but again, last year we tried the Bonfire. Very nice. Plenty of room food was good. Will be going there in about 1 month. Watch out crablegs:banana:!!!!

Last trip, we got ours to go, and ate them on the boardwalk with our Thrashers fries:thumbsup2 They are pretty good crabcakes.

We LOVE Ocean City. The entry into the ocean is very gentle - I think it is safe to say depending on conditions you can get 100 to 150 feet off shore and only be waist high in water. Make sure you get some boogie boards.

You will not be bored. There is plenty to do.

I've been going to OC at least twice a year for 21 years now- we own a house there. Its worth taking a trip to Assateague Island if you like horses. There's also 2 really cool museums - theres a Pirate museum on 28th st and a Shipwreck Museum just outside of OC in Fenwick Island, DE. Also, if you're willing to spend a little money Fager's Island on 60th Street is a good place to eat. theres also just a lot of stuff to do there - tons of shops, jet skiing, parasailing, boat tours, putt putt, etc. But have fun! Its a fun place to go!

Can you tell me more about the Pirate Museum? What's the name, how much for admission?

Just got back from there yesterday.

Must eats:

Boardwalk fries from Thrashers
Ice cream from Dumsers Dairyland

We ate dinner at Old Mill Crabhouse...it was delicious!

The Jolly Roger boardwalk park has all you can ride passes for $16.99 from 1-5pm.

There is definately enough to do to keep you and your kids busy and entertained.

As for Baltimore, you could stop there on the way down or way home to see Camden Yards. I think it is a wonderful ballpark.

Make sure you go out on the pier too.

Anyone go to Frontiertown???

We have camped at Frontiertown in the fall, and it is really nice, it's located on the Sinepuxent Bay near Assateague Island. They have a fishing/crabbing pier and boat docks. There is a waterpark, but of course it wasn't open in October. They also have a wild west show, but I think it's only running during the summer. Mini-golf stays open and is free for guests of the campground during off-season. Are you thinking of camping or just visiting?

Don't miss:

Thrasher Fries
Dumsers Dairyland ice cream
Fishers popcorn
Fagers Island restaurant (great sunset views and nice outdoor decks)
Captains Grille crabcakes

Have fun!

Oh, and if you decide to go to Assateague or Frontiertown, you are really close to the small quaint town of Berlin where the movie "Runaway Bride" was filmed, kinda cool to see the actual hotel and diner. Nice outdoor cafes and they also have a cute little tearoom and antique shops.

Check out OC's website www.ococean.com, for events that are happening while you are there and lots of info.!

Camden Yards is a great ballpark, go to www.orioles.mlb.com, they offer 1 1/2 hr tours for $9 adults, $7 children 14 and under, really cool! Also the Babe Ruth museum, the aquarium , B&O museum and the Science center are all things you may be interested in.

One of my favorite treats to get at Dumser's Dairyland is a Cherry Dip Top ice cream cone. It used to be that the main boardwalk location was the only location that had the cherry for the diptop. The other locations didn't have it. I don't know why I like it, I just do. One of those "memory" things I guess!

Thanks . We are staying at the Clarion in Ocean City. Frontiertown Wild West show looked fun. I also want to see the wild ponies at either Assateague or Chintiague.

I can't remember if the admission is 5 or 10 dollars, but there is coupons for it int he Sunny Day guide. It's on 28th street in a white building. There's a huge sign so you can't miss it.

I highly recommend Nick's House of Ribs on 145th Street. Great ribs and great crab toast.

As other's have warned, stay away from any Phillips restaurant. Their crabs come from the Phillipines.

Stop at the Convention Center on 41st street as they have a visitors center with all the info you need. Plenty of paper's, brochure's and coupons.

Trimpers rides at the south end of the Boardwalk is awesome for kids.

The Haunted House on the boardwalk is fun for a scare.

Try the jerk chicken at Seacrets and watch the sunset over the Bay.

Any ice cream from Dumser's.

Fisher's Popcorn.

Macky's Bayside is nice also.

Dolle's fudge.

Fractured Prune donuts are to die for.

Tubby's for subs after the bars close.

The Cork Bar for the coldest draft beer in town.

The Atlantic Stand for the best double cheeseburger on the beach.

The Lifesaving museum at the south end of the boardwalk for some info on Ocean City. In 1933 a hurricane opened an inlet to the ocean which allowed quicker access to the ocean and became a boon for tourism.

Sorry to be longwinded but I really loce OC as I have been going there every year since I was born. 43 years and counting.

Also if your not use to ocean water and waves be very careful and swim near a lifeguard. They get some wicked undertow's down there.
