Tell me about Mythos?

Want to try this restaurant on our next trip, May 31-June 3rd. What is the menu like, price range? Should I make reservation ahead of time? Lunch or dinner, is the menu similar at both meals?

we have had lunch here twice and made reservation when we entered the park( not sure if you can book ahead) If your staying on site you will get priority.
The food is very good but more expensive than normal theme park fare. I think the main dishes were between 17-30 ish for adult and they have a good child menu. The building is amazing and its a lovely break from the park.

We've always made reservations by stopping in Mythos the morning we want to eat there. Same menu can be had at lunch or dinner (although they have an "express lunch" menu also). GREAT food and service and the atmosphere is amazing.

i do not find MYTHOS price to be expensive compared to what you get versus what you pay at say Enchanted Oak or Finnigan's.

Would i waste money on fine dining for kids? not on your life.

The kids menu at Mythos is actually pretty good. Try the chicken fingers!

I have never thought Mythos was expensive. In fact, it amazes me that you can get that wonderful quality of food for their prices. It's not fast food folks!!!

My kids love Mythos! The only issue I have with this restaurant is the service. It has been sub-par the three or four times I have been. Obviously not enough to stop me from going, but really not good service at all. It was slow, and was like your server was trying to avoid catching your eye - weird. We didn't go last trip and probably will not go in three days on our next visit.

By the way, I never consider taking my kids out to eat, fine dining or not, a waste of money. My kids love all kinds of foods, my son in particular loves trying new things that might not be on your regular kid friendly menu. My daughter is a bit more choosy, but she loves to try new appetizers. We sat at the table at Tchoup Chop that looks into the kitchen and they both had a blast. My son even ate the tartare (spelling?), that none of us would even try, and he loved it. My son is one of the reason I love to cook and try at least one new recipe a week - he is one of those kids that is so appreciative and a joy to cook for.

I think it's a real shame that people think it is a waste of money to take their children out for nice meals! We have taken our girls out to eat in all types of restaurants since they were tiny and I am so proud of them now. They eat almost anything and really enjoy the social side of eating out with us. Perhaps it's the influence of the French (we spend a lot of time in France) who always make eating a real family time!

I agree totally. Forget about the food aspect, the times we have at a restaurant and at our own dining room table are priceless. Especially when they get a bit older and this may the only "unguarded" conversation you have with your (pre) teen. We have dinner together at the table at least four nights a week. And yes, my kids have activities three to four nights a week and most weekends are spent at dance competitions, but we still make time.

That being said, Margaritaville is our favorite Universal restaurant, we always have so much fun there!!

Any time I've ever been to Margaritaville's it's been a "lively" place. Always a good time when the volcano blows. the last time i was there, there seemed to be a few birthdays about, and during the margaritaville song the folks in stilts broke out the huge "shaker of salt" to pass around to some of the guests..some guy was standing on his chair waving it around... it was a fun time.
To stay on topic, I wasn't overly impressed with Mythos...not to say it was bad but maybe my expectations were high because of all the great things I've heard about the place. I really found it interesting to stand over at the side near the kitchen and you can look over as the chefs are working. not being a person that cooks alot, i was intrigued by how they worked the grills back there.

Margaritaville is very lively at night. I always see kids and adults celebrating birthdays there. Mythos has good and interesting food, but is not lively at all!

I agree. Also a kids menu is offered. We had lunch there with our 2yr old and 7month old a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. They weren't open for dinner the days we were there. The kids menu even offered special kiddie desserts including rice crispie treats presented sushi style. We had to see what that was. It turned out to be a really messy dessert that my husband and I ate most of just so that our 2yr old wouldn't eat too much sugar--but it certainly was unique!

We have eaten at Mythos for lunch the last three years, and have loved it. It is a very cool (literally and figuratively), had great items for kids (healthy) and we have had top notch service. Food is above average for theme parks, definitely not fast food.

I've only been there twice and both times it was great. The food was good and we had great service as well. I didn't come away thinking it was pricey but that might be because I have a 'higher' definition of pricey when I am in a theme park.

I don't think Mythos is pricey at all for the type of food you get.

Last time we went to Sea World we ate at their full service restaurant, Sharks Underwater Grill. Now that's pricey and the food quality is a big disappointment IMO.

I was there in the begining of February.. and that guy does look familiar
