Everybody keeps mentioning this ride and I gotta tell you, I don't know it. It's been maybe 4 or 5 years since our last visit to US/IOA.

When I was last there, Shrek had JUST opened at US and Nick studios was still there. So….when did this Mummy open? What is it?

Just looking to talk, pass the time til our trip (can't freaking wait.)

Ive never ridden it but Im excited about it b/c the Mummy movies are my FAVES! Im not really a rollercoaster person so I am pretty nervous.. At WDW space mt scared the crap out of me, I wonder if Mummy will be the same or worse?

i rode it & I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

i love the movie too
but its a great simulator ride with great effects!!!

definitely worth it if you can tolerate the jerky fast rides

i wanna go on it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have never ridin space mt but have the mummy and it too is an indoor coaster that the themeing is from the movie and takes you thru an ancient pyrimid and I love how they tie all that together and its really a great ride with no really big drops but it is a intense ride and really didn't think I could handel it but now its my favorite ride at us and to answer when it opened I think it was in spring 2005 so its not a really old ride:thumbsup2

If I had to guess I would say it would be worse! Because I hear its like a hybrid dark ride/rollercoaster. I am going Sat and srsly want to ride this. I love coasters so it wont phase me any. My mom rode it last trip while I watched little kids and said it was awesome. I love the movies also so it should be rly interesting to get to ride it. I also have no idea when they opened it btw to OP but it has been atleast 3 years cuz I believe thats when she rode it.

The Mummy is an indoor dark ride that has rollercoaster sections, including a short launch up an incline, and several twists and turns in the dark. There are no loops and its probably 40mph tops.

It is NOT a simulator. It's heavily themed with some incredible effects you won't find anywhere else

The Best Ride In The World!!!!!!

IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!

Went on a few years ago knowing NOTHING about it. First ride we went to expecting lines. I must say I could have walked out of that park and felt like I got my money's worth for my ticket. Best to not know what to expect. DS and I loved it, but made mistake of explaining all to DH and DD. Now they enjoyed it but said it didn't live up to our hype.......I think because there were no surprises. No big drops, no loops, not even high off ground but plenty of thrill.........try it, you'll like it :thumbsup2

ROTM opened in May of 2004 and the other posters are right...it's a great ride!

Universal did the AP preview right that time. It was after the park closed and only passholders were allowed to enter the park. The ride opened at 8pm and we went on around 8:30pm. By the time we came out, the line was down past Twister!

How does it compare to the Disney coasters and even if it doesnt really compare which one would it be "closest" to.....I cant stand drops and am trying to see if I would try this.

Thanks.

It's closest to Rock n Roller coaster, but it is not as fast or intense IMO. There are no big drops on it, just a few small, steep ones.

My wife and I visited USF/IOA for the first time in July 2006. We enjoyed the Mummy ride immensely. Combined, we rode it a total of 12 times over two days! We typically used the Single-Rider lines to save time.

On YouTube, there is a video of the ride (just type in "Revenge of the Mummy"). I was not able to post the link here, for whatever reason.

Because you cannot have ANY bags on this ride, you need to use those fingerprint-driven lockers. I always have trouble with those lockers, because my fingerprint apparently is hard to read - perhaps I should turn to a life of crime?
