Tell me about Mickey's Fun Wheel

The non-swinging cars are basically just a big standard Ferris Wheel so no biggie.

I get motion sickness but the swinging cars didn't make me sick, I think because with the 360 degree view you don't get disoriented. But the feeling, when your car is 'falling', that you're going to just fly off and fall right into Paradise Bay was absolutely terrifying.

I rode it twice. The second time because I thought I had been unreasonably silly to be so scared of something so benign. Nope. No matter how much I told myself I was being stupid, I just couldn't stop that panic. I've been reduced to frightened tears on two rides in my life; KBF parachute drop and Mickey's Wheel of Death.

I think I'll try the moving car by myself first before taking my toddler. Sounds like this might well be the scariest ride at Disney ha ha.

I've been on it once in the cars that don't move. I didn't want to go on it, don't like ferris wheels and am claustrophobic and don't like heights. It was basically torture for me and I'll never go on it again.

Our kids loved it at two. It's the 20 something year old Navy boy that cried real tears.

All 3 of us hate this ride and the only reason DS and I went on it last trip was that we had a goal to ride every single attraction at both DL and DCA. (We completed DCA but due to DH getting sick on our last day, we missed DL by 5. )

Mickey's Wheel of Terror, that just about says it all...

Be aware that the whole process is very time-consuming. They do only go around one time; the rest of it is just loading and unloading one "car" at a time. It takes a long time. (Non-swinging car rider here.)

I have avoided this ride in the past, but we went on the great wheel in Seattle last summer and I liked it. It sounds like if we do a stationary car it's just like any other fairs wheel? Is the mesh "cage" so bad that you can't get a good photo from inside? The cars in Seattle had nice big windows and I got some great pictures (I'll do almost anything for a good photo!).

Actually I say overall, it's the worst ride at Disneyland/DCA. We love roller coasters at DL, Knotts and even some of the big ones at Magic Mountain but the wheel of death at DCA is not to be messed with imho.

If you're not on a swinging wheel, it's not any worse than Seattle. But it's difficult to get a decent picture because of the "cage." Not like the one in Seattle with the big windows.

I would never bring my 2 year old on the swinging one. It's the only ride I've ever felt sick from really, ever. I can handle Mission Space in Epcot, Tower of Terror, any roller coaster, but not the swinging gondolas. It looks innocent but it is seriously not fun.

OK so we never made it to the Wheel of Death today. The lines were too long when we were there. I might try a stationary car with my mom when we go together in a few weeks sans children. I will report back.

I second this.
I wasn't expecting the time commitment when we got in line.
Just be aware of that ... and for the OP, a toddler might get antsy and bored.

I actually think it is fun! The first time I went on it I was a little freaked out by the swinging action but with no fear of heights or motion sickness I was ok in the end. For me it was just getting used to ride because honestly, it is a bit terrifying lol! I did however go on it last summer with someone who is not the biggest fan of heights but thought she'd do ok because she's been on regular ferries wheels that seemed in her opinion much scarier. Well...she did not last! Once she got on she immediately noticed there were no sets belts and nothing to hold on to except for the sides of the cage and at the first rock she lost it and then being at the top and rocking..lost it some more. She had to get off. Like I said I don't mind it, but it is not a top priority due to the line. We waited forever ..the line is the absolute slowest EVER and we literally only went around like one time without interruptions. If there was no one in line..sureee but that rarely happens.
