Tell me about Kidani's Community Hall...

We have always been park commandos, but this year I was thinking we might spend more time around our resort--Kidani Village. Tell me what are the must-do activities for the kids at the Community Hall.

Btw, we have NEVER even been inside a Community Hall in all of our DVC stays.

Kidani's Community hall is one of the best - your kids will love it!

They have a couch with a Wii set up on a large TV, 3 Playstations set up on the side with chairs. There are pool and Foosball tables (very popular) and tables set up with markers. Kidani offers button making for $1 (although you can choose and color up to as many images as you want from the book without charge.) and there is a closet jam packed full of boardgames.

The CMs working there have always been very friendly and helpful.

The community hall is right on the savanna with a great view, although I don't think I've ever seen children stop to look outside, they're simply having too much fun. If your children ever get bored, there's the Arcade right across the hall

The Kidani Community hall has a bunch of free crafts as well as $1-$2 ones. They have seasonal free crafts--we were at Kidani in October--free Halloween sticker/scene sheets, free suncatchers to color with Sharpie markers, tons of coloring sheets. For pay crafts, for $1 each, one child decorated a ceramic zebra with Sharpies, and the other colored a beach ball with Sharpies.

In addition to the community hall, Kidani has a bunch of cultural activities going on each day. It was VERY rainy when we were there in October and the cultural activities and community hall being INSIDE the main building made life a lot better for us! For cultural activities--we went to a family African drumming session, a Chain of Life Jenga type game that earned the kids beads (one of the 'beaded' activities). We went on a tour of Kidani to learn about the African design elements. And we stayed for one of the talks from a 'cultural representative' from South Africa that was very interesting. We also did an activity at Jambo House--doing rubbings over the metal engraved animals on the floor by the entrance.

Oh, my! My son is already salivating over your post! Wii and an arcade--perfect for him!
We will certainly have to set boundaries over his usage.

A lot of the cultural activities are located in 'the library', just off the lobby, not far from community hall.

I have to say that we really enjoyed our stay at Kidani...it was our first time at AKV, and I really didn't expect to enjoy it that much due to the distance to the other parks--but there was so much to do at Kidani between viewing the animals, the cultural activities, and community hall.
