We're doing 3 days of non-Disney stuff next March before WDW so we're landing at JAX on a Sat. morning, leaving a week later. A few questions:

How busy is it, how long to get the checked bags?

Do we need to be there 2 hrs early for a departure?

Is the Dollar rental deal the same as MCO, that is a kiosk outside for Express members to make a quick get-away?

Thanks for any info offered and please throw in any other quirks that may thow a first-timer off at this airport.

JAX is a relatively small airport that shouldn't give you any problems. Checked bags are usually at the carousel, which is on the first floor, while you'll debark on the second, fairly soon after landing. Though if you're a quick walker you might be waiting 10-15 minutes.

I'm not sure about the car rentals, being a native from Jax I've never had to worry about it. I would suggest calling the rental company, or looking on their website.

You'll definitely want to be there 2 hours early for your departing flight, but don't stress and get there 3 hours early. TSA is slow, but JIA handles a majority of business travelers so it's a lot of seasoned fliers, not the insanity of MCO's families and tourists.

Real nice airport to rent cars.
The parking structure is attached to the terminal.
If i remember right, there's a little dollar kiosk out in the garage (not 100% certain) but there isn't always a person in it. Sometimes you have to hunt for them.

I honestly don't see why you'd need 2 hours at this airport.
