Tell me about Indy...

I have heard about how great Indy is, and how much is breaks down.

What breaks on it?
What parts are permanently not longer working?
Is it still the ride it used to be?
What's a realistic good standby wait time in the summer months?
Any better spots in the cars?

What do you think of the ride?

It is one of my son's favorite rides so we always ride it multiple times. It does break down a lot, but usually not for long. The only good thing about the break downs is that sometimes it can lead to getting a very short line if you luck out and are in the area when it comes back up. I am not sure what is wrong with it when it goes down. If you rope drop it you could ride it several times with low waits. The queue is very long so it is a long walk with no line but moves pretty steadily when there is a line. The only feature I have noticed not working is the large snake is not moving. Others may know of something else. It is still very close to the ride it used to be in my opinion. I don't think I have ever waited more than 30-40 minutes for it. If it is longer than that I just wait for another time. If you sit in the front of the ride vehicle it seems to be less jarring. Some people say the middle seats are also better.

It probably has one of the best lines in DLR, it can go to 60+ minutes on standby on bad days but as long as you are on the indoor line it can pass fairly quickly since you are moving constantly and there is a lot of things to see. One of my top 5 must do's for sure.

I never feel like I am waiting long, if the que is interesting.

BTMRR , HM, SpM , POTC, Everest, TSM, all have interesting Ques in WDW.

I have notices that the Ques in DL seem very. sterile for the most part. just chains and back and forth.
The HM in DL really looks like the most uninspired que ever, especially compared to the new que in WDW.

Many times, the ride shuts down, because people report losing something important to them on the ride. Not an actual breakage of the ride.

I find the front row the most fun.
I believe the snake animatronic will come back at some point.

We once got stuck in the dark portion where the bugs start to come out of the walls. Took about 5 minutes and then started back up with the lights on and none of the animatronics or effects working. The awesome cast members asked us if we wanted to ride again immediately since we had that happen. It was great.

A lot of ride break downs are guest triggered. Could be as simple as a guest dropping a water bottle on the ride that the ride vehicle goes over which can e stop the ride.

A lot breaks on it but usually it's people dropping something that causes it to go down rather than an entire effect that isn't working.

Most of the queue effects like the spiked ceiling don't work. I don't remember when they changed the initial Mara room (maybe 8-10 years ago?) but I like the "new" projections in the second room. I'm also pretty sure there's a lot less fog but my memory may be confused by my memory of Tokyo's version of the ride.

The ride is not what it used to be but some things like the projections in the 2nd Mara room are improvements.

In the past, an afternoon wait time of an hour would not be uncommon. With Genie+ now, I'm not sure what would be considered a good wait time.

The front is usually the best but the side seats towards the back are cool too.

They added in the projection effects in 2014 I want to say. It was after the moving wall broke and they opted to not repair it.

It is a lot of fun. It is the AK Dinosaur type track and ride vehicles. I hate Dinosaur, but I love Indy. We have been to DLR either in June or July several times. Historically, you would see the line between 45 minutes and 60 minutes a lot. If it breaks down for any significant amount of time, it often pops up 90 to 120 minutes. They also historically had a single rider line- not sure if it has ever returned. You would ask at the exit if there wasn't a sign, and if it is open, they send you up the exit to get there.

It is bumpy, and we have been in line when they have had to stop it because someone dropped something before. We were close to getting on- and they told us to hold tight. It was about 15 minutes standing waiting for that.

I keep hearing the boulder is not working….

Since the boulder is such an important effect, people notice when it isn't working while people are far less likely to comment when other effects on the ride aren't working. It still works but in the occasional chance that it temporarily breaks, you'll be far more likely to see people post about it.

yea, as a WDW vet. I love hearing people tell me the Everest Yeti was working for them on theri trips……
